Bucky and Leia lay on the bed facing one another in the dark room. Leia's hair is sprawled out over the comforter as her eyes rest on her love. Bucky's right hand runs through Leia's brown hair while his left is entwined with hers. She looks down at their entangled hands and gently runs her thumb over his knuckle.
"Leia?" Bucky breaks the silence.
"Mmmm." She mumbles a response, closing her eyes from the rhythm of Bucky's fingers in her hair.
"What happened to your arm?" He asks the question he's absolutely dying to know the answer to.
"I told you already."
"I know that, but how?" Bucky murmurs hoping she'll tell him the whole story.
Leia draws her gaze away from their hands to meet his eyes. She inhales sharply before speaking. "He met me in the kitchen. It's almost like he knew where to find me. I turned around and there he was. I don't know who he was, but he had dark hair and almost hazel eyes. And he wore all black from head to toe. I asked him what he wanted and he didn't say anything at all, just walked closer to me. He got too close for comfort so I blasted him but nothing happened. And then before I knew it he fired an identical blast right back at me, and it hit my arm. I was in so much shock that I took my eyes off him for one second to look at the wound and when I looked up he was gone." Leia takes a breath having finished her description.
"Leia we can't let him get away with this!" Is the first thing Bucky says in a low voice.
"I know but can we just not talk about it right now?" Bucky sees the look of sadness settle in her eyes and it dulls their usual light.
"What's wrong?" He mumbles trying to get her to talk. But instead her eyes well with small tears and it pains him. "Hey, hey, tell me what's going on in that head of yours."
A few of the tears drop onto Bucky's palm that cradles her cheek gently. "I- I don't know what to do." She stutters through her tears.
"I'm going to find him, whoever he was. I won't let him get away with this." There's a sense of certainty deeply rooted behind his words.
"That's not what I mean." She shakes her head, trying to bury her face.
"Then what is it Leia?" His words are soft and it makes her lift her eyes to his. Bucky sees the heartbreak glazed by her tears.
"It looks awful. It's disgusting." Leia averts her eyes again darting her hand across the textured skin. The sight brings her to tears again, it's rough and almost calloused into one big scar.
"No it isn't." He counters her self-deprecation. Leia just shakes her head unable to take her eyes off the hideous mark her body now holds.
"Sweetheart, I want to tell you something someone much wiser than me once said." Bucky takes her hand away from the wound replacing it with his. He lets his fingers move over the soft ridges and swirls and she looks up at him, but his adoring eyes don't leave the scar. "Each and every one of these markings is wonderful. It shows where you've been. Your triumphs. Your successes..." Bucky looks at her and her eyes are filled with a different kind of tears remembering all those years ago she'd said the same to him. "It adds character."
He only brushes his lips against hers as he hears the small whimper come from her throat. "You are beautiful. And I am so in love with you, nothing could ever change that. Especially not a little scar." A tiny smile quirks on Leia's lips just enough to for Bucky to catch, making him smile too. "We will find him though, I promise you that.""I love you." Leia tells him again, kissing him gently. "Can we just sleep and talk about this in the morning when my brain isn't all over the place?"
"Yeah." Bucky agrees quickly with a smile. Leia returns it and shuffles to cuddle his side, falling into a comfortable position. Bucky's mind is going crazy with possibilities and trying to find ways to comprehend everything she just disclosed. But eventually her steady breathing breaks through his whir of a mind, bringing him back down to earth, where he too slowly drifts off to sleep next to her.-
"Here Steve." Leia throws her friend an apple while the four of them stand in the small kitchen making breakfast.
"Thanks Leiaaaaa." He drags out making her laugh. She turns around to face Emma who she catches with a death glare on her face.
"You okay Emma?" Leia asks quickly.
The blonde snaps out of her state quickly and offers a fake smile. "Yeah, I'm good."
