Leia lets a groan pass her lips as she rolls over on the couch. As far as sleeps go, that was quite possibly the worst she's ever had. She stretches out her aching body, sitting up and rubbing her eyes as the obnoxious sunlight comes through the open curtains. Knowing when the Olympian sun rises it's no doubt early in the morning.
Inaudible grumbles escape from the other couch as Loki wakes up too, after his own uncomfortable sleep. They both hear feet pad down the hallway and into the kitchen. Leia sees Steve begin to boil water creating a ruckus with the pots and pans.
"For the love of God!" Leia tips her head back letting out an exasperated groan.
"Jesus- what the hell!?" Steve jumps not knowing that she was there to begin with.
"Morning to you too." She bites, her grumpiness settling in nicely.
Leia looks over to her friend when he doesn't answer her and notices his disengaged mannerisms, staring at the water as it slowly comes to a boil.
"I don't think we're going to get anymore sleep." Loki huffs just as grumpy as Leia.
"You're right." She pinches the bridge of her nose.
"He looks depressed though, you should go talk to him. I'll give you a minute." He says leaving the room.Leia stands up and walks into the kitchen where Steve still stands mesmerised by the water.
"Are you okay?" Leia asks him tearing his attention away from the pot.
"What if it's Nat?" He blurts quietly looking right at her. Leia looks at him blankly, this being the first time she's actually thought about what the following mission could entail.
The pair stand silently with their thoughts while Steve makes them each a cup of some kind of herbal tea. Steve wanders to the stools on the other side of the island, making himself comfortable. His eyes lock onto something in the hallway and he gives quick nod. Leia follows Steve's eye-line until Bucky enters the room, trudging along slowly.
Bucky had been replaying the events from the night prior as he laid in bed all morning, working up the courage to talk to her and make things right again. Walking into the living room he sees the blanket and pillow she'd taken to sleep on the couch. And thats when he sees her, standing in the kitchen before Steve, sipping on a steaming mug. He goes to walk in to join them when he feels a chill brush past his side, and Loki appears in his peripheral vision. He instantly notices the man's lacking a shirt as he stalks over to the second couch, slumping on top of the covers Bucky only just notices. Suddenly his calm nature is replaced with frustration and disappointment as his eyes make their way back up to meet Leia's, his apology completely lost.
Leia notices that his demeanour hasn't changed from the night before and she quickly removes herself from the room, returning to the now vacant bedroom. Grabbing her suit she walks to the bathroom to change. Behind closed doors she changes out of the pyjamas Loki had given her, stepping into her blue suit, nerves settling in. As she pulls it up around her waist the door swings open and Bucky walks in like nothing's wrong. His eyes immediately fall upon her left bicep where he notices the scarred tissue for the first time in a while. Leia catches where his eyes drop, her anger bubbling slightly, as she rips the top half of her suit up to cover her shoulder.
"What the fuck Bucky? You can't just walk in like that!" Leia scolds, zipping up the front of her suit.
"Well you should've locked the door." He bites back walking past her without meeting her eyes, turning on the shower.
"Really?" She raises an angry brow to him. "I'm not done, get out."
Bucky turns around and finally stares her down. "Leia, we're literally dating."
"You know what, I'm not even going to come." Leia huffs unzipping the suit and letting it fall around her waist.
"Come on Leia." Bucky rolls his eyes, pulling his tshirt over his head. Leia looks away from his exposed torso, finding it hard to even look at him. "What the fuck?"
Leia doesn't even give him the satisfaction of a response as she walks out slamming the door behind her."Oh good you're almost ready!" Aura's voice fills her head.
Leia walks beside her down towards the living area. "No, I'm actually not going to come."
"You too!?" The goddess rubs her temple.
"What do you mean?"
"Sam and Peter already bailed too." She informs her as they enter the living room.
"Oh hey!" Deimos is sitting on the couch Leia slept on and Loki jumps up from the sudden conversation. He'd been trying to get some more shut eye before they leave for the mission.
"Fuck me!" Loki blurts rubbing his sleepy eyes.
"I don't think I will." Deimos says standing up and walking over to his sister, draping an arm over her shoulder. "So... Zeus said you had something to tell me?"
"I'm leaving for the day." Is all she mutters trying not to move a muscle to disturb him.
"So I get the house?"
"Um, what?" Leia pipes up confused as ever.
"No, a few people are staying back." Aura corrects.
"Are you one of them?" He looks to Leia with a flirtatious wink.
"Nope, I'm going." Leia words come out quicker than she would've liked.
"I thought-" Aura starts but she interrupts her.
"No, I'm coming." Leia nods forcefully.
"Shame." Deimos smirks and it sends a shiver down Leia's spine.
"You disgust me." Aura grumbles.
"Charming as ever, little sister." His words are like ice as he walks out of the room.
"Woah!" Tony dodges a steaming Aura as he comes into the kitchen.
Loki's eyes follow the goddess and he feels compelled to follow her. He glances over at Leia and gives her a curt nod before he too disappears up the hallway, leaving Leia with a puzzled look on her face.Loki hears the door at the end of the corridor close harshly, he walks over and enters Aura's room quietly. Hearing the latch click as it opens she whips around to see Loki.
"Thor's not in here is he?" He's the first to speak.
"No." She shakes her head, smiling just a fraction.
"Good." He walks closer to her. "Because I need to talk to you."
Aura can't help but stare at his bare chest, before she forces herself to look up and meet his eyes. The smirk on his face makes goosebumps rise on her skin.
"What... what did you need to talk to me about?" She stumbles over her words.
"I don't even know where to begin." He smiles gently.
"Just say it." Aura says not knowing what he plans to confess.
Loki's eyes dart about her face trying to put all his thoughts into words. "I just really like you." Aura opens her mouth to speak but he keeps going. "Before you say anything please just let me talk. I really like you Aura and I know I shouldn't for so many reasons but I can't help it. I know I should just lock it in a box and throw it across the nine realms but I can't, trust me I've tried. My single biggest regret would be leaving here without telling you how I feel. You really are the most captivating person I've ever had the pleasure of knowing."
"Loki..." Aura smiles at him, letting his words settle.
"I don't think I've ever felt this way for someone before. And I know it's terrible because I'm with Wanda and you're married to Thor-"
"Who told you that?" She interrupts him with wide eyes.
"Did you really think you could marry my brother without me knowing." Loki smirks raising a brow. "Irrespective, I meant what I said, every word."
"Loki... Loki you can't say that to me." Aura says.
"Why?" He takes a step towards her, forcing her to look up to meet his eyes.
"It's exactly as you said, you're with Wanda." Aura places her hand on his bare chest, pushing him back softly, creating distance between them once more. Her hand lingers for a moment, and Loki looks down to her placement, before she pulls her hand back to her side.
"You can't tell me that you don't feel even the slightest bit of attraction towards me?" His words are more of a question than the statement he would've liked.
"And what if I don't." Aura breaks their eye contact for the first time since the god walked into the room.
"Look me in the eyes and tell me that again."
His words make her meet his sultry gaze as she repeats, "And what if I don't." She holds her head high though Loki sees the lie behind her eyes.
"You know you're a terrible liar." Loki laughs but not mockingly.
"Perhaps I am." She smiles to match his. "But perhaps honesty won't do me any good in our current situation."
There's silence for a moment as Loki looks at her with dark eyes. He steps forward closing the distance that Aura made not moments before.
"You can't tell me that your heart doesn't begin to race when I'm this close to you." There's mere inches between the pair. "Or that you don't get a shiver down your spine when I say your name." Aura just stares up at him unable to say anything as more goosebumps raise on her skin purely by his words. "Or try to remember what it felt like with my lips against yours." His eyes search her features as he reaches up and places his hands on her jaw so gently the touch is barely there. "Lie to me."
"I can't." She mutters and a small smile forms on Loki's lips. His heart is racing just as fast as hers as he leans in and presses his lips to Aura's. She falls into the kiss resting her hands on his sides while his remain on her jaw.Loki pulls away lingering for only a moment. "I want you." He says simply.
"I don't want to do something that's going to hurt someone else." She sighs, wanting it as much as he does, but knowing the consequences.
"Wanda and I have never even made it official." Loki tries to barter.
"Loki, I am married to your brother."
"We can keep it a secret, no one has to know."
"No Loki, it's too complicated." Aura denies him.
"But it doesn't have to be. We could run away together, just me and you." Loki grabs her hands holding them tight.
"We can't, I have responsibilities. I have people relying on me, it isn't just about what I want."
"But it should be, we could just leave everything-"
"And how do you think that would make Wanda feel? If we just left. Or Thor, or my family? It isn't just about us." She repeats. "What you have with Wanda is good, why would you want to jeopardise that?" Her question seems rhetorical when Loki doesn't mutter a response. "Sometimes you don't realise how good something is until you don't have it. She deserves for you to at least try. I see the way she looks at you, and the way you look at her. You would regret it if you didn't try to see it through. You and I both know that it's the wrong time for us. And if there ever was an us in this lifetime, this isn't it."
"Aura..." Loki doesn't want to admit she's right.
"Loki, you know what I'm saying is true. I won't be the person who comes between what you two have, I respect her too much. I've never had girlfriends before and I don't want to ruin that relationship, it's far too important to me."
Loki doesn't say anything, simply nodding with a broken frown. He moves swiftly to the door disappearing from the goddesses view.-
