103. Despair, Desire, Distraction

Axyl's eyes are full of rage as he storms towards Aura's workshop. Though this time he doesn't give the courtesy of a knock, barging through the locked door, cracking the frame. Aura leans back on her hands on the cleared bench, her head tipped back, while Loki kneels in front of her.
"What the fuck!!!?" Axyl yells registering the scene.
"Fucking hell!!" Aura yells in fright, pushing Loki away and readjusting the robe around her body. Loki turns to see Axyl as he stands up, wiping the corners of his mouth.

"Oh come on." Axyl's words are full of spite. "How classy."
"Oh fuck off, what do you want?" Aura bites.
"I want to know what the fuck's going on." He seethes.
"I-" Loki starts but Aura interrupts him quickly.
"I think it's pretty obvious." She rolls her eyes.
"Well last time I checked, he's fresh out of a relationship and you're married!!" Aura is stalled for a moment. She looks at him slightly confused until she realises that in his rage he often forgets the events that ensue, like on the Orion Asteria.
"It's complicated."
"You love making things complicated, don't you Aura. You haven't said a word to me about what happened before they took you to Earth, and now I see you with him." He speaks of Loki as if he isn't in the room. "I've been waiting for you to say shit to me for months!"
"And it couldn't have waited another half hour?" Loki mumbles but loud enough for Axyl to hear.
"Honestly I've been trying to convince myself it didn't happen. There, are you happy?" Aura admits and Axyl's heart shatters.
"Yeah, I'm so happy you fucked me over!"
"Look, she's made it clear you're just friends, so if you don't mind..." Loki gestures to the broken door.
"Just friends?" Axyl looks past Loki to Aura. "Then why did you let me fuck you?" His words leave them in a stunned silence. "Because it didn't seem so friendly then!"
"Enough, it's in the past, let's leave it there." Aura growls.
"Why? Why do we have to leave it there? What does he have that I don't?" Axyl yells loudly.
"For gods sake Axyl, I'm not going to stand here and make a damn pros and cons list." Aura pinches the bridge of her nose pacing about the room. "Call me selfish, but I've just had my whole life ripped out from underneath me. And I haven't had a clear mind since Zeus told me I had to marry, so would you just cut me some slack. And now there's finally something good, why can't you just be happy for me?"
"Happy for you? Have you ever once stopped to think about what I have given up for you? I can't go back, I've lost my home, my job, my future, all because of you!!!"
"I'll get it back for you, I don't care the punishment for me." Aura explains.
"No, god Aura, you're not understanding-"
"Then what? What do you want!!?"
"I just want you!!!" He yells and there's nothing but utter silence for a mere moment.
"You both clearly have a lot to figure out but I won't stand by and let you talk to her like that in front of me." Loki speaks up again.
"I shall talk to her however I please after the way she's treated me." Axyl finally acknowledges Loki's words. "I bet you wouldn't be so quick to defend her if you knew half the things I know about her!! Don't think you're special. Half of Olympus has had her in that position."
"Try me." Loki deadpans willing Axyl.
"First of all, she let someone fuck her up against the barricade of the bull fighting arena, in front of thousands. She also supplied unapproved weapons to Deimos which were then used to level whole worlds, and now he can't leave Olympus. And then not a few weeks later I walked in on her performing in one of the gentleman's clubs. She also tried to steal some of your precious Akonian Ale, I'm pretty sure Odin himself put a stop to that one, throwing her in the dungeons until he realised she wasn't just a petty thief." Axyl explains, barely scratching the surface.
"Are you done?" Loki asks blatantly. Axyl is silenced for the first time in the confrontation by Loki's nonchalance.
Suddenly Aura storms past both of them finished with the conversation entirely. The already broken door cracks on the hinges as she rips it open.
"Yeah walk away like you always do!!" Axyl yells after her.
"She's moved on, get over it." Loki growls as he too leaves Axyl seething more than when he came in.
