Emma unlocked the door of the police station in a rush. She had to be in and out in a few minutes. She just needed a few things to grab before she would be on her way.

There was a break-in, which beyond itself, was extremely rare in Storybrooke. The town was peaceful, only a few disruptions between neighbors when somebody's dog got out or an argument broke out between the townspeople, but the town had few major altercations, well, besides the evil fairy tale characters that traumatized the town every now and then.

A break-in just came off as odd to Emma, which was why she ran into the station and was back in the car in less than two minutes.

"Got everything you needed, love?" Killian asked from beside her.

"Yeah, let's just get over there and check it out."

Since Killian didn't have an official job in Storybrooke (although Emma and Henry constantly nagged him to work at the docks) he tagged along with Emma a lot when she was on duty. He never liked being away from her side for too long, afraid he wouldn't be there to protect her from evil. He had come out as a good partner-in-crime for Emma, keeping her company and also providing insightful knowledge about the cases she worked on or just about life.

Emma drove across town to the small family home, where three people stood outside. She shut the car off and got out, heading over to them.

"Deputy Swan." She outstretched her hand to the man.

"Josh Harrison, this is my wife, Lacy, and our daughter, Maggie." Emma looked at the girl standing next to her father. She looked around fourteen or fifteen at the most, and looked terrified as she eyed the house.

"Can you tell me what happened?" Josh led Emma up to the front door of the house.

"We were getting ready for work, Maggie getting ready for school. Then we heard a scream, so we started to run to her room but we stopped in the kitchen. The cabinets were all opened and there were bags and jars everywhere."

Emma stepped inside the house and walked into the kitchen. She noticed the mess made on the counters and the floor. Food was splayed everywhere, half-filled containers laying open near the cabinets. A white powder covered the floor.

Emma turned to the teenager, who had followed them in, along with her mom and Killian. "Maggie, did you see what happened?"

She nodded. "I had just finished doing my hair and makeup and brushing my teeth in my bathroom, and when I came out I saw this girl standing in my room." She led her to her room. "I screamed and the girl jumped out the window. She took my dress I was using in our school play." Her face fell as Emma looked at the mannequin laying on the floor without any clothes on its fabricated body.

"Did you see what she looked like?"

"She never looked at me. All I could tell was that she was dark-haired, kinda like his." She pointed towards Killian who looked at the girl in surprise. "She looked my age from her height and the way she moved, and her clothes were covered in dirt and tattered to pieces."

"Thank you, Maggie." Emma turned to her parents. "Anything else go missing?"

"Nothing that we know of. The only things we know this girl took was food and Maggie's dress."

Emma nodded. "Give your insurance agent a call, the least they could do is replace the window and any damage done to the kitchen."

Mr. Harrison led her back through the kitchen when something in the powdery flour that was layered thinly on the floor caught her glance. She bent down next to an imprint. The imprint of a boot.

"I think I can confirm that it was a girl given the size of this boot print." Emma began as she took out her phone and snapped a few pictures on it. She followed the tracks until the flour on whoever's boots these belonged to disappeared, but not before heading straight for Maggie's room. "I'm gonna have to take these back to the station, start a sweep of the area and anyone with the appearance that you've described, try and find a hit on whoever did this."

"Thank you, sheriff." Mrs. Harrison said with sincerity.

"If I find anything more, I will give you a call. Have a good day." Emma said to them as she and the silent Killian left the household and climbed back into the bug. She turned the ignition of the car but looked down at her phone at the photos and the description of the suspect.

"That was spectacular." Killian finally spoke up, after being silent the entire time they were there. "You're really good at this kind of thing."

"It's kinda what I'm paid to do, so of course I'm gonna be good. But I won't be good enough until I find out who did this."

Killian nodded but didn't reply as she pulled out of the driveway and headed back to the police station. David's old Ford sat in the parking lot and she pulled in next to him, in her designated parking spot.

Emma directly went to her office and sat at the computer without even noticing her father standing at the window holding some paperwork. He turned when she fell into her chair and began typing away at the keys.

"Good morning, Emma." She did a slight wave as Killian idled into the room. "Hook."

"Good morning, Charming. Sorry about the lass barging in, she's got important business to attend to." He nodded towards the blonde focused on the screen.

"What's got her all riled up?" He asked the man.

"Break-in across town." Emma mumbled, joining in their conversation.

David uncrossed his arms and walked into her office. "A break-in? Since when are there break-ins in Storybrooke? Somebody really must've gotten on the wrong side of someone lately."

Emma stared at the screen as she uploaded the pictures she took at the scene. She pulled up a record of everyone in Storybrooke and searched for young girls with dark hair, and waiting for the search to load, she returned her attention to the boot prints. She studied them silently as both David and Killian watched her intently, then Emma's aha moment clicked in. She looked in the top right corner of the screen, at a file reading, 'portal photos.' Her mouse hovered briefly over the file and then scrolled to find the photos she was looking for. She compared the photos from today and the photos from the woods next to each other, all having one common thing: the same boot marks were imprinted in both the dirt and the flour.

Her eyes widened. "It's the same girl!" She sprung up.

"What do you mean?" David went around and peered down at the photos.

"It's the same boots. Whoever came from the portal also broke in to their house."

David smiled slightly at the findings, but his face dropped as he looked at the search box of the Storybrooke records.

"We're stuck again though." He pointed to the record search. "If this is the same person who came out of the portal, she won't be in the Storybrooke records."

Emma took in his words and a sigh escaped her lips as her head hit the desk. "Back to square one it is."
