The Flash Of Lightning, And The Sound Of Thunder

Y/N slowly opened his eyes as the sound of rain echoed around him. He sat up and rubbed his eyes, before looking at the window. A storm had approached Vale, as lightning struck in the distance. Y/N sighs, before seeing Ruby next to him. Instead of sleeping, she was wide awake, and holding his hand.

"Rubes, what are you doing?"

Thunder boomed, as Ruby squeezed his hand. She was noticeably shaking.

"I-I hate thunder."

Y/N raises an eyebrow. "Really? Never thought lightning would scare a Huntress like yourself..."

Ruby frowns, and let's go of his hand, before meeting his eyes and sitting up.

"I used to sneak in Yang's room a lot when it rained. I never liked thunder or lightning. I always thought of getting struck and it sounds like it would hurt."

Y/N nods. "Makes sense. Getting struck by lightning is a pain."

Ruby tilts her head. "You've been struck by lightning?"

"Ohooo yeah. Got struck 7 times in a row."

"Well... Nora doesn't seem to have a problem with it."

"Well that's Nora, and probably because of her semblance too."

Ruby sighs. "Well, the tournament continues tomorrow! I wonder who'll fight next!"

Y/N nods. "I hope it's Penny. I really wanna see her fight! She's bound to fight in a cool style with all those blades she uses."

Ruby smiles. "Yup! I wanna see Sun fight too! I missed out on those Nunchuck thingies last time, so maybe I'll see them in action this time!"

Y/N smiles. "Yeah, hopefully. Those were super cool."

"Oooh? And what are you two talking about?"

Ruby jumps and turns around to see Yang hanging upside down on her bunk bed, smiling.

"Y-Yang?!"

"Hey Yang."

Yang waves. "Sup."

She flops off her bunk bed, before landing on her feet.

"Sooo... what has you two lovebirds up so early?"

Ruby shakes her head. "W-we're not lovebirds!"

Yang rolls her eyes. "Oh come on sis, everyone knows you like Y/N."

Ruby's face glows red, as she covers her face with her hands. Y/N, who had already known this throughout his time at Beacon, simply chuckles at the sight of a flustered Ruby.

"See?! Even Y/N knows!"

Y/N smiles. "And I happily shall return those feelings."

Yang smiles. "Soooo... what has you two up so early?"

Y/N points to red tipped girl beside him.

"She is the reason."

Yang smirks. "You could've stayed asleep you know, and yet you decided to wake up and comfort my little sis?"

Y/N shrugs. "Sure."

Yang rubs her knuckle into his skull. "See Y/N? You're so nice it's unbelievable."

"Yeah well, it's kinda my thing at this point."

"Yeah, and cooking awesome food."

"You flatter me."

Ruby moves her hands from her face. "Can we leave now?"

Weiss rubs her eyes. "Ugh, and today I thought I would enjoy a good sleep."
