№18|Strike
>───⇌••⇋───<Later that day, all the dragons spread across the ship as they prepared for the strike. For safety reasons, Miriana and Charles were on opposite sides of the large front deck.
Charles stood on the port side of the deck, he could barely see Miriana between all the dragons. “How are you feeling, Miri?” he asked into the walkie-talkie.
“A little worried,” she replied. “Maybe it would’ve been better if I stayed in the room.”
“Don't say that honey.” He sighed, smiling at the figure across the deck. She wore a light pink summer dress that flowed graciously with the wind. He smiled, she always looked so beautiful in that. “You deserve to be here just as much as these dragons do.”
“You know he’ll be looking for me though,” Miriana muttered.
“I know, that’s why we have all the dragons here to help you and the other mates get back to their room,” he explained, waving at her. “Can you see me waving?”
“Yeah! I can.” Miriana giggled, waving back at him. “Hi!”
He chuckled. “Hello, my love. Don't worry about me. You just worry about yourself, okay?”
“Alright.” Miriana gulped.
“When the dragons say run, you run, okay?” Charles reminded her.
“I-I wanna help thou-though,” she stuttered slightly.
“I know you do, but we can’t let you get caught by Soren. Think of it as football. Right now, you have the ball and Soren is on the other team. Your sister, all the other dragons, and I are defense and all you gotta do is make the touchdown,” he explained, smiling at the woman across the ship.
“Charles, you know I don't understand football.” She chuckled.
“I know.” He smiled. “One of these days, I have to teach it to you.”
“One day, my love, one day,” she lovingly replied as she ended the conversation.
Charles turned towards Queenie with a determined glare in his eyes. He glanced down at her wrist, noticing the symbol on it. “What’s that?”
“Nothing!” She practically shouted, covering up her wrist with her other hand.
“Mhm…” Charles rolled his eyes jokingly. “I saw you with him yesterday on the balcony. I know there’s something going on between you two.”
Queenie scoffed, her cheeks flushing pink. “N-No… I don't even know his name.”
“I do.” Charles smirked smugly.
“I know you know his name, so just tell me!”
“Yeah it’s-” before Charles could continue, the walkie-talkie began to beep.
