№38|Miriana 2.0

Miriana groaned as she came to. Her vision was blurry, but she could make out two figures in front of her.

“Charles…?” she asked, hoping one of them was her dragon. However, her hope failed to come through when her vision cleared to reveal Lorenzo and Soren. Her eyes widened, fear overtaking her body as she wanted to run but the chains holding her to the bed prevented her from doing so. “So-Soren! Let go of me!”

“I see you’re awake.” He glared at her. “Five months. Miriana, how many days are in five months?” he asked, circling around towards her.

“152 days,” she replied, tugging on the chains.

“You ran from me for 152 days, you bitch!” His hands gripped her throat. “For 152 days, I was running around this boat like an idiot searching for you when you could’ve been a good girl and come back home!” He trashed her head against the headboard. “But no, someone wanted to run off with her little boy toy dragon and make me look like a fool!”

“What did you expect me to do, Soren?! You abused me every day when we were together.”

“That’s because you didn’t follow my orders.” Soren gripped strands of her blonde locks, threatening to pull them out. “This never would’ve happened if you just listened to me! This is all your fault, Miriana.”

“How so? You’re the one who abused me. You’re the one who scolded me. You’re the one that broke me down, and somehow I’m to blame?” Miriana winced when he yanked her hair.

“Yes, you fucking slut. You’ve been sleeping around with that dragon ever since we’ve been on this ship, haven’t you?” he growled, clenching her jaw.

“We haven’t had sex yet…” she grumbled through the rough handling of her jaw.

“Oh? Why not? You’re waiting for him to mark you? Is that it?” He patronized her, tilting her neck to reveal it was completely blank. “Look at that, there’s no mark.”

“I swear, once I’m free I’ll-”

“You’ll what? Rip me to shreds? Kill me? Burn my body as you watch from your dragon’s loving arms?” He scoffed and turned to Lorenzo. “Do you hear this shit? She’s going to kill me. Yeah, right!”

Lorenzo nodded, laughing alongside him before passing him a circular container, some gloves, and a pair of tongs.

“Why is that so funny?” she snarled.

“Because,” he said as he opened the container, the smoke from the dry ice spilling out. He used the tongs to take out a bright green orb. “Soon you’ll be forgetting all about that dragon of yours.” With one swift push, he plunged it straight into her heart. He watched it seep into the organ.

“You’re all mine now, Miriana. You’ll never escape me again.”

Queenie held up the phone to her ear, getting Miriana’s voicemail once more.

“Hm… that’s odd,” she murmured as she, Zachary, and Jerald sat in the viewing box of Charles’ cell.
