>───⇌••⇋───<“Y-You… you shot her?!” Jerald shouted, springing off the edge of the bed.
“Yeah… yeah I did…” Wayne hung his head low, raking his fingers through the side of his head. “What’s wrong with me? How could I shoot her?”
“Technically, you didn’t shoot her. You shot Soren, and he just happened to bring up a shield that caused the bullet to ricochet off him and hit Silvia,” Jerald explained, crouching in front of him. “You’re not a bad guy, Wayne.”
“Oh really? I shot her! I shot her, Jerald!” He clenched his hair. “How could I shoot her? I shot Silvia... Wh-what if I shoot Penny?”
“Don't you dare start that. You would never shoot your little girl. All good fathers are incapable of hurting their kids.” Jerald gripped his shoulder. “Wayne, you are an amazing father, and I know you feel bad because the woman you love got shot-”
“I never said I loved her.” Wayne blushed deeply.
“It’s rather obvious, Wayne.” Raelyn chuckled, walking out of the bathroom with her hair and body wrapped in a towel. “You love her. Just as much as you do Penny.”
“No… I got my hands full with Penny and all my assassin jobs. I would have no time for her. She’d end up leaving.” Wayne sighed, bouncing his leg.
“Silvia isn’t like that. She loves you, regardless of your job.” Jerald smiled, patting his shoulder. “She needs you right now, Wayne. Go to her.”
“I don't think she’ll want to see me,” he whimpered.
“I know for a fact that she’ll want to see you when she opens her eyes.” Raelyn nodded with certainty. “Just go to her already!”
“Alright…” He let out a shaky breath and walked to the door. He stood at the doorway, ready to leave. “By the way,” he looked over his shoulder at Jerald and Raelyn with a smirk, “congratulations. The mark looks beautiful.”

Penny climbed onto Silvia’s hospital bed. “Miss Silvia, please get better. Daddy’s really worried… I’m worried.”
Daniella walked over to Silvia, ruffling Penny’s hair. She flashed her a weak smile before shaking Silvia awake. “Come on honey, time to wake up. I gave you 15 minutes this time instead of ten.”
Silvia groaned, slowly opening her eyes. “Why’d you wake me up?”
“Because you can’t stay asleep for long,” Daniella warned, checking her vitals. “How are you feeling? Other than tiredness.”
“Cold… really cold. My arm hurts.” Silvia shivered.
“That’s because of the tubes.” Daniella took her temperature. “Eighty-two. That’s good. Only four more degrees and we can switch you from ACR to PER.”
She nodded, turning towards Penny. “Have you been here all night?”
Penny nodded, lying down next to her. “Daddy was getting antsy so me and Queenie took him to see Jerald.”
