№25|Strawberry and Crème
>───⇌••⇋───<“Jerald, I-I don't know what to say…” Raelyn stammered as he led her into the bridge. “You did all this… fo-for me?”
“Of course, a woman like yourself deserves this and more,” he replied with a smile, pulling out her chair for her as she sat down.
“Thank you.” She sat down and took off her jacket, placing it behind her chair. On the table was a plate of chocolate covered strawberries. She chuckled, looking up at him.
“This is just an appetizer,” he said, feeding her one of the strawberries.
“Isn’t it technically a dessert?” she mumbled through her strawberry-filled lips.
“Yes, but I’d thought it would be sweet to start our meal off with something that reminds us of when we first met.” He took a bite into the fruit that rested between Raelyn’s lips. He came close to making contact with her plump lips. He sent her a sly smirk and slowly backed away.
“Jerald…” Her cheeks flushed a light pink. “Why?”
“What do you mean ‘why’?” His eyes shifted to Augustine, rolled in a cart. “Oh, hold that thought. Here’s the next course,” Jerald said, passing Raelyn a plate of the caprese chicken pasta.
“This looks delicious.” She looked up at Augustine and said, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” Augustine smiled warmly at the single mother and turned to Jerald, holding out his hand. “Ahem.”
“Seriously?” Jerald groaned, rolling his eyes.
Raelyn simply giggled, earning a smile out of the alpha.
“Yes, seriously. Do you think I was just going to do this for free?” He scoffed. “Do you know how long it takes to cook a five-course meal? Hm? A very long time.”
“Oh, quit your whining. Here,” Jerald placed a 20 dollar bill in his hand, “happy now?”
“Where’s my tip?” Augustine asked, raising his eyebrow.
Raelyn couldn’t help but snicker as she attempted to hide her laughter.
Jerald groaned, placing a 10 dollar bill on top of the 20. “Jeez you’re pricey. Do you make Carlotta pay this much?”
“No, she eats free,” Augustine replied with a cheeky smile as he poured them some wine. “Today, you’re drinking the 2009 Chȃteau la tour Carnet Medoc Passion.”
“Oh, sounds fancy.” She raised the glass to her lips and took a sip. “This is delicious!”
“I knew you’d like it. I remember you telling me at the bar that you always wanted to try this one,” Jerald said, stroking her hand.
“Something this good must’ve been expensive,” she muttered. “Jerald, you didn’t need to spend all this on me.”
“It is only a $200 bottle,” Augustine muttered, causing Raelyn’s eyes to widen.
“Only?!” she exclaimed.
