She opened the door and standing there in front of her was her best friend, Spencer. She could tell that something was wrong just by the pain that was in his eyes. She didn't say a word. She reached out wrapping her arms around his waist and pulled herself into him. She felt his shoulders drop and his knees grow weak as his arms found their way around her and sobs started to escaped his lips. It was the middle of the night, but she didn't care. Spencer needed her.
"Care to tell me why Spencer James is asleep up in your bed?" Ezra eyed Juliet down as he walked to the fridge to grab some orange juice the following Monday morning. "He stayed over." She replied calmly.
"In your bed?"
"Yes."
"With you in it?"
"Yes."
"Uhh, why?" Ezra was not impressed with his daughters actions.
"He showed up late last night. He needed a friend."
"Did he now?"
"His father passed away yesterday, dad. So yes, Spencer needed a friend."
"Corey James passed away? How is he?"
"Terrible."
"I can only image so. I wonder if Billy knows."
"How is that any of Billy's concern?" She replied in a nasty tone.
"Excuse me?"
"I'm sorry.."
"It's Billy's concern because Spencer is like a son to him. Now I know that Corey and Billy had their differences, but they got passed that."
Juliet looked down at her bowl of cereal. She let out a sigh and picked it up as she slid off the stool and placed it in the sink.
"Where are you going?" Ezra asked her.
"School."
"With Spencer still in your bed?"
"Yeah, dad. With Spencer still in my bed. Did you want me to skip today to stay home with him?"
"Of course not, you need to go to school. But I don't think it's best that he's alone?"
"Which is why mom had agreed to take him home once he wakes up."
"Your mother knows about this?"
"Of course she does." Juliet kissed him on the cheek and turned and headed for the door.
"I feel like I'm always out of the loop with the two of you."
"That's because you are."
While at school Juliet spent the morning worrying about Spencer. With her texts to him going unreplied to, Kimberly was the one to provide her with updates. At 11:23 he was still locked up in her room. She sat at lunch with her food going untouched as she looked up old articles of Corey from his days at South Crenshaw. Jordan spotted her from across the way and started to make his way for her. As he did, he was cut off by Simone. "You've been MIA." She snapped. "Why?" "I've been busy." He awkwardly replied as he took a quick look towards Juliet who was nose deep into her laptop.
"Jordan, if you don't want this just tell-"
"I have a lot going on right now, okay? Look, I will be there for you and for our baby as much as I possibly can, but you have to realize that this is a lot for me to take in right now and I'm trying to process it all."
"You're not the only one going through this, jackass." She snapped at him which caught Juliet's attention. As she looked up, Simone was walking away. Before Jordan saw her staring, she directed them back to the article she was reading. He once again carried on his way over to her, acting like nothing just happened, and sat across from her.
