As always, summer was gone in a flash. In just two short weeks the halls of Beverly High and South Crenshaw were going to be filled with students just trying to make it out of high school with their sanity.
To say that Juliet just had the best summer vacation of her life was a complete understatement. All summer Kyle was either with her in Beverly Hills or she was with him in Long Beach. Each staying at their cousins house on the weekends to spend more time with the other. Juliet didn't miss the drama that Beverly Hills had to offer. For the first time in months she didn't care about what Jordan was doing. She didn't have to hear about the baby. She hadn't spoke to Olivia much since the day she found out she was the reason Jordan stayed, officially putting their close relationship on eggshells. She wasn't around Layla and her new found career as a music producer. The only ones she kept in contact with were Spencer and JJ, and that's only because JJ wanted to see Kyle to continue their Beer Pong competition, so he often traveled with Juliet to Long Beach.
Juliet laid on a floaty in the pool and Kyle swam around her waiting for the perfect opportunity to flip her over. "Don't you do it, Underwood. I will end you." She told him as she saw him calculate his plans. "Impossible. You're a foot shorter than me." He laughed.
"I'll climb you like a tree."
"Oh will you now?" He winked which caused Juliet to lightly splash his way. When she looked towards the glass sliding doors, she saw Spencer make his way through them with a scowl on his face. "Hey, sunshine." She called to him. "What's going on."
"Crenshaw doesn't have a QB."
Over the summer, Spencer finally made his decision to return to South Crenshaw to play football in his old green and gold jersey to follow his fathers legacy. Luckily for him, Coach Baker decided that it was in his best interest as well to get away from all of the Beverly Eagles booster drama and take his coaching experience elsewhere. Elsewhere being Crenshaw High since they needed a coach after Corey's passing.
"What do you mean Crenshaw doesn't have a QB."
"Chris is still out. Doctors won't let him play yet."
"Okay, but I thought you had Darnell?"
"So did I.. but uhm- his mom got hurt over seas. He just headed home to Nevada to take care of her."
"Oh no.. I hope all is well."
"He said he would keep us posted."
"Okay, then what's the plan? Try to fulfill the position yourself?"
"I can't do that. I'm the fastest receiver on the team. They need me there more than they need me as the QB." Spencer sighed.
"You can't have a receiver if you don't have a quarterback?"
"What if I did it?" Kyle asked. Both Juliet and Spencer looked at him with wide eyes. "What if I was your QB?"
"No way man. You have something good going for you at Long Beach." Spencer told him.
"Not really. I have a decent team, I won't lie. But they're no Spencer James. It's what, a thirty minute drive?"
"You aren't in district though." Juliet reminded him.
"So my parents rent a house that is."
"Rent a house? Just to play ball?" Spencer asked.
"Yeah."
"Rich folks." He chuckled. "You think your parents would go for that?"
"My dad is pushing for a football scholarship, preferably full ride. Crenshaw was runner up last year in state, got recognition that Long Beach can only dream out. Besides, Billy Baker- former NFL player, coach of last years state champs would be my coach. I can't image they wouldn't."
