"Sunghoon, can you come to the living room please?" Her voice was stern yet anxious as she called her son downstairs "Quickly, It's important."

The atmosphere had been tense for the last few days. Ever since that phone call, Sunghoon could tell that something was different. He had a gut feeling that whatever was about to happen, was going to be tough.

Intuition is a curious thing, for no conscious reasoning is needed in these moments. Sunghoon expected the worst and that came exactly into fruition. Sat directly in front of him was Jake, his best friend, alongside both of Jake's parents. That's when the pieces finally came together.

"Have a seat son." With crossed arms and visible disappointment, Sunghoon's father gestures to the empty space next to his wife.

His mother grabs his hand gently as he walks over, clearly forcing a disingenuous smile. She lets him settle next to her before getting started. "I want you boys to know that we care about you so, so much. We just want what's best for you, so try to keep that in mind."

Though he could hear every word his mother said, Sunghoon felt numb to it all. He tried hard to keep his emotions under control, but his head was just filled with doubt and worry.

"I think that, as your parents, we deserve the truth. We need to know, once and for all, has your friendship gone beyond that?"

She said it. She said exactly what Sunghoon was dreading to hear. How was he expected to explain his feelings for Jake, when he didn't even understand them himself?

The room is filled with an unsettling silence, each person nervous of what to say next.

"Jake." Softly spoken, Jake's mother looks at her son with concern. "It's better to be honest."

Jake slumped slightly forward. Reaching his hand towards his face, he begins pinching his lip between his thumb and index finger. This was one of his little habits he did when he felt pressured. Sunghoon didn't want to risk anyone assuming more than what they thought already, without moving his head, he shifted his eyes instead, to look at Jake.

"Let's hurry this up boys. You need to explain yourselves." Sunghoon's father's deep voice filled the room, he clenched the arm of his chair tightly as he spoke.

Lifting his head suddenly, Jake glanced at Sunghoon. Their eyes had once again met, and nothing had changed. They both looked at each other the same exact way they always had. It brought back memories to the first time they met. Sunghoon's eyes lingered on Jake, it's like he lost all control when he was around, even if he couldn't physically see Jake, he was still looking at him.

Breaking off the eye contact, Jake spoke with as much confidence as he could muster. "I would explain if I could."

"Jake, what does that even mean? It's simple, just tell us what's going on between you." Sunghoon's mother appears more jittery questioning Jake's logic.

Slamming his fist onto the table next to him, Sunghoon's father loses his patience. "Let's end this. We know that you two are dating."

"Sweetheart let the boys speak for themselves-"

"We've been here for a while now and barely anything has been said. We need to get to the point." He interrupts coldly.

"Ok, Ok." Sunghoon's mother takes a deep breath. "If you two really are more than friends, then this has to stop today."

Biting his tongue for the whole time, Sunghoon just wanted this thing to be done. He expected that they weren't happy with the relationship, and he expected that they would want him to break up with Jake. However, hearing the words for real, he couldn't hold back any longer.
