Wheeling his trusty bike at his side, Sunghoon walked along the school's cobble stone path, on his way to the bike rack. The weather was starting to warm up a bit, it was still only the beginning of spring, but winter was slowly saying it's goodbye. The tree's looked more full, the grass more green, Sunghoon also noticed a few more flowers sprouting up. He never really payed attention to these things before.
The click clack of the cobble stone, always had annoyed Sunghoon. He wondered why anyone would purposely decide to build a bumpy path, that just ended up looking messy. It wasn't useful, nor was it nice to look at. Though today, Sunghoon actually enjoyed the clack of the pebbles beneath his feet.
As he continued walking, he thought back to his class schedule. His first lesson lined up for today was 'Essay prep', freshly designed by the school, it was meant to prepare them for next year, when they would be tasked to write out their university Essays. Sunghoon knew that he could easily get a scholarship, due to his skating. He saw no reason why he needed to prep for an essay that he wouldn't have to put any effort into. Then again, It might actually be useful, he thought to himself. He would need to complete projects once he got into university, and there's no downfall to brushing up your skills.
He couldn't decipher whether he felt strange today, because this light feeling wasn't actually uncomfortable. Normally, Sunghoon would march through school with an ironclad expression. He had one goal, get through the school day, then onto the rink. Yet, he wore a somewhat happier expression, taking in his surroundings, appreciating what was in front of him.
Sooner than he knew it, he had arrived at the bike rack. Filling the third slot from the left, Sunghoon swung the lock round, clicking it shut. Taking a brief glance at his watch, the time read 7:45. He was earlier than usual, having a quarter of an hour spare before class. Considering he was feeling kinda good today, he decides to take a little stroll around his school.
Hands tucked neatly in his trouser pockets, Sunghoon meandered for a few minutes alongside the basketball courts. This was where most kids in his school hung out, where he also used to spend his time. He liked to avoid it nowadays, it only brought back memories he wanted to forget. But at this moment, he didn't mind being here.
"Sunghoon! Looking rather cheerful today!" Mr. Lee called out as he passed the boy. Sunghoon never really liked Mr. Lee, he was super happy and bouncy, always cracking jokes. He found the teacher quite irritating. However, for some reason, he didn't think Mr. Lee was that unbearable today.
Plastering on a polite smile, Sunghoon saw Mr. Lee's expression change. Sunghoon never smiled at anyone unless it was completely natural. A fake smile was the same as not smiling at all. This time Sunghoon actually wanted to smile though, the muscles were definitely rusty, they didn't really have a job on Sunghoon face. So the smile looked a little awkward, but Mr. Lee accepted it nonetheless.
Continuing his walk, Sunghoon finds a grey, wooden bench sitting under an umbrella of trees. He hadn't been around here in so long, that he didn't even know they had put a bench there. With 10 minutes to kill before class still, he takes a relaxing spot on the bench.
A small vibration tickles Sunghoon hand, he expected that his mother had probably text him to check he got to school, since no one else really texted him. He pulls the phone out from his pocket, taken aback by the unknown number appearing on the screen.
