Did days even pass anymore? Did the moon rise? Did the sun set? Sunghoon was nothing but a lifeless body, drained of any emotion he seemed to have. He hadn't left his room for school, or to go to the ice rink over this past week. The only reason he hadn't died of dehydration or starvation, was due to his mother constantly bringing him anything he needed. His father was completely opposed to this though, he thought that if Sunghoon didn't want to get up himself, then he could rot in there for all he cared.
His mother was insanely worried, Sunghoon had only ever acted like this once before. A year ago. She wondered what could of happened that caused this, last time it set in motion Sunghoon's exile of everyone in his life. When he makes it out of the rut this time, will it be worse? She wasn't there for him a year ago, she had made some awful mistakes, but now she had a chance to make a real difference. She wasn't going to fuck up again.
Entering his room, the boy didn't react, he simply had no energy to. His mother placed herself on his desk chair, leaning forward attentively.
"Sunghoon, you have to go to the rink tomorrow, they need to fit your costume for the qualifiers."
A small groan was all Sunghoon could muster, words didn't even exist anymore to him. He had forgotten how to speak.
"You'll go right?" She asks, only getting another groan as a reply.
"Be ready for 8 then."
The next day came by fast enough. Sunghoon hadn't taken in any of what his mother said. She literally had to change his clothes herself, just to get him ready. He felt skinnier than usual, probably due to the fact he wasn't eating much. Once, he was fully dressed, she chucked his arm around her shoulder, and using all her strength she carried him down the stairs. She stumbled her way to the car, with Sunghoon still leaning on her. Settling him in his seat, she clicks his seat belt, and off they went.
Pulling up to a large beige coloured building, with brick accents, this definitely wasn't the ice rink. Waiting outside was a lady with a wheel chair, which Sunghoon was hurried into. He could barely make out what was going on, everything was fuzzy. Eventually making it to a small white room, Sunghoon could make out a few diplomas on the wall. There was a large desk, where a tall, smiling man sat and a comfy looking grey sofa across from it.
The man walked over, first shaking hands with Sunghoon's mother, then taking his seat back behind his desk.
"My name is Kim Namjoon, I'm hoping that I can help you young man." He states firmly.
Sunghoon didn't really understand what the man said, voices were muzzled and everything was still very unfamiliar.
"From what you've told me, your son is showing signs of severe mental health issues. This state he's in, is it a regular occurrence?" Namjoon asks.
"Uh no, it happened last year for a few weeks, then went away. But now its happening again." His mother replies, clear concern laced her voice.
"Do you have any idea what's causing this? And could you tell me a bit more about Sunghoon's behavior?"
The session ended with his mother in tears. Just like her son, she avoided talking about what happened last year. That's why it was so hard bringing it all up now.
