The remote clicked, switching on the last episode of Grey's Anatomy season 6. Mrs. Kim was almost done binge watching her new favourite show, with 11 seasons still to go. She wraps herself cozy in her pink, knitted blanket, that Sunoo made for her, grasping a warm cup of tea in her hands.
Hearing her mum downstairs, Mi-Sun heads to the living room. She couldn't shake the uneasy feelings, and just longed to be with her mum. Curling up next to her on the sofa, she fits into her mum's arms like a puzzle piece, tugging on the blanket until it covered her too.
"What's up baby?" Her mum was surprised by her daughters sudden desire for affection. Pulling Mi-Sun in, she lovingly holds her eldest, stroking her hair gently.
"I'm a bad sister." Mi-Sun sulks. Still thinking about what Heeseung told her, she felt like she hadn't been there for her brother like she should have.
"Don't be silly, you know Sunoo adores you." Turning the volume down on the telly, Mrs.Kim reassured her daughter. She loved that her children were so close to one another, it helped bring her peace of mind, knowing they had each other no matter what.
"I let him down-"
"Mi-Sun, I know you better than anyone else, I gave birth to you for God's sake." Fondly gazing at her daughter, she boop's her eldest's little button nose. "You know why I never worry about your brother? It's because of you. I know that you would put him before anything else."
Her mothers words really helped Mi-Sun, cause she knew that too. She had always looked out for Sunoo, even though she was only a year older. It tore her up inside, thinking about how much Sunoo was affected by all this.
"I'm home." Sunoo's voice calls out as he opened the front door.
"Did you have a nice time sweetie?" His mother yells back. She looks to Mi-Sun who's idly staring towards the hall, she could tell her daughter wanted to talk to Sunoo, so she nudges her to get up.
"Yep, It was good." Sunoo's mood definitely seemed lighter than earlier, it was hard to tell if he was still upset.
Hearing footsteps travelling up the stairs, Mi-Sun calms her nerves, eventually jumping up and following suit. She tries to think of what she'll say to Sunoo, wondering if an apology will cut it. In the end, she decides to just wing it. She didn't want Sunoo to think she had rehearsed it and that her words weren't genuine.
Three gentle knocks later; the siblings sat side by side on the hard wooden floor that lay in Sunoo's bedroom. Leaning against the cold, mirrored wardrobe, they sat in silence, not knowing where to start.
"Who did you have dinner with?" Mi-Sun didn't want to think about what Heeseung said, but it plagued her mind. Did her little brother really like boys?
"Just a friend I met the other day." Sunoo responds, twiddling with the blush coloured, shaggy rug beneath him.
"I didn't know you made a new friend." She continues awkwardly making small talk.
"It's pretty new, I was gonna tell you eventually."
The silence returned for a moment. Usually their fights were over stuff so minimal, they didn't have much experience in drama this big. Mi-Sun squeezes her eyes shut, taking the risky choice of grabbing her brothers hand, It would kill her if he swatted it away.
His eyes wandered to Mi-Sun, she looked really nervous. Placing his hand over her's, he leans his head back against the mirror. "I don't mind you dating Heeseung. I just wish no one hid it from me."
With her eyes still shut, Mi-Sun relaxes a little. She takes a deep breath, but can feel tears forming. "I'm so sorry Sunoo, I never meant to hide it. If you'll let me, I'd really like to tell you everything."
