Jared arrived shortly after with his jumper gables in hand. The bus was running, shittely I might add, but running regardless. I followed behind Jared's silver 4Runner and parked where he showed me in front of the frat house, specifically in the now empty driveway.
When I climb inside Jared's car, I notice instantly it's impeccable. The vehicle is an older model but the way it's so clean I'm impressed. "Bash mentioned something about the police station?" He asks, driving away from the frat house as well as my bus parked in the driveway.
"Yes, if it's not too much to ask."
"Nope." His tan arm reaches for the radio and turns it up. It's a talk show that I don't pay much attention to and instead look around the car. Yes, I am insane. I am searching for anything that could have been left by Foxy. It's a stretch, and I know Jared's not the one, because I've come to terms with it being the boyfriend and he is not Foxy's type.
Giving him a glance, I eye him up and down. He's literally my size. Obviously, more muscles and stronger, but we probably weigh the same. Therefore, I know Foxy would have never gone for him.
He clears his throat loudly, catching me eyeing him then speaks, "How did the chat go with Giselle?"
"We met at Frappies this morning." I say, unsure if I want to get further into what I learned during that meeting. Something tells me I can't fully trust Jared. At this point, I think I trust Bash more than I trust Jared. It's something that is off about him. He seems nervous, all the time. While Bash just seems... sad...
Kind of like me...
"Bash said last night that he's a flirt." Hoping to somehow learn these guy's dynamics better, and maybe catch Jared in a lie, I cast a line.
"And?" Jared prompts, keeping his eyes on the road before us.
"He doesn't seem the flirtatious type. And I find it strange that Foxy was interested in him."
"Okay... She for sure was the one to approach him that night. I witnessed her make the first move. So, I think you're wrong."
"Why would my sister attempt to pick up Bash when she had a boyfriend?"
"I'd heard she had one, but no one knew who he was. We thought it was a rumor... Did you learn something?"
I consider not telling him, and gauge him for a moment. "Giselle told me she did have a boyfriend. And that she had also been interested in Bash during the game."
"Having a boyfriend and checking someone out isn't a crime." Jared shrugs. And for a moment I want to smile. Maybe I'm wrong about Jared. He isn't slut-shaming her... He isn't saying anything against her for being interested in his friend when she wasn't single.
"I agree..." I look out the passenger side window, relaxing in his presence. Maybe I was wrong about him as well? Maybe because of what I'm after with hunting my sister's killer, I've become suspicious of people I shouldn't be? "But, my sister was loyal. She wouldn't have done that if she had a boyfriend."
