"Walk me through your day, Bash. Starting when you woke up this morning." Investigator O'Neil has me in a small room and fully bloody believes I was the one to plant the photo in Aspen's vehicle.
Last year he was not having any of my shitty answers, I'm pretty sure tonight is going to be the same.
My fucking luck, I swear.
The moment I finally realize I more than probably had nothing to do with killing Foxy Lewis, this shit happens.
I sigh loudly, stressed the fuck out, but don't want to lawyer up. So I'm going to answer his questions, sticking one hundred percent to the truth. Mostly, I think.
"I got up when my alarm went off around 8 am."
"Is your alarm on your phone?"
"Yeah-"
"Can I see it, to verify your timeframe?" O'Neil asks cooly, keeping his eyes on the pad of paper resting on the desk.
In a flash, I rake my thoughts and come to the conclusion that I don't have anything damning on my phone. Thank God I never talked about or researched Foxy after she died.
"Sure." I dig it out and slide it over to him.
"Thanks." He grabs the phone then begins to cycle through it, surely looking at more than my alarm app. "So what happens after you get up?"
"Shit, shower, eat."
O'Neil gives me a glare but continues through my phone, "Got dressed, then left for campus."
"You still drive the Honda motorcycle?" He asks, again cool as a bloody cucumber.
So, they've been keeping tabs on me... Sweet.
"Yup."
He momentarily leaves my phone then scribbles on his notepad. "Continue."
"Parked on the South parking lot, near Frappies, then found Aspen Lewis having problems with her car."
"Have you met Aspen Lewis before today?"
"Yeah, we met yesterday, outside of class." I will keep out the fact I thought she was her dead sister and she also nearly turned me into roadkill.
"So, you wanted to help her with her car?"
Want isn't the right word. I felt guilty for all the shit she must be going through, but I can't say that, "Yes."
"What did you find wrong with her car?"
"The battery was dead and the spark plugs were shot. She'd left the door open or some shit, but until I looked at it later, the thing basically needs an entire rebuild."
"Right, go ahead."
"I called my friend, Jared Hoskins because I knew he would have jumper cables." O'Neill continues taking notes as I talk, "I went to class and Jared gave her a lift here, after dropping the bus off at the house."
