'So here's here to stay?' Mia asked in disbelief. She was hoping her question didn't sound rude, but she was too overwhelmed to find the right words to stay.

'Yes, up until his family finds him.' Mia's mother said.

Although Mia wasn't exactly excited with the idea, she knew that she had no say. It wasn't as if it were her house, but she really felt uncomfortable having someone else in the house.

'Oh, welcome.' She said lowly and started to walk to her room.

Zhenyuan was an amnesiac, but he was still able to tell that he wasn't welcome. He looked up at Mia's mother whose face was casually relaxed, she probably hadn't even noticed that Mia was unhappy with the decision.

'Zhenyuan, I need you to promise me something,' Mia's mother finally said to him, sitting on the white couch that was next to the one he was sitting on.

'Yes?'

'Mia is the most important thing in my life, she's all I have. I want you to promise that you're going to take care of her as long as you're here, that's all I'm asking from you. Treat her like your own sister.'

Zhenyuan listened attentively, then nodded. 'Of course I'll do that. If you actually took me away from the hospital and into your home, there's no reason for me to deny your small request.'

Mia's mother smiled at his humble eloquence. If she had had a son, then she would have wanted him to be exactly like Zhenyuan.

'Very soon I'll sign you up for school, you need to be in school you know.' 'he informed him as she started to walk to the kitchen. Zhenyuan smiled to himself and nodded, he wanted to have a normal life and not be stuck in a hospital. Even though his mind was full of questions about his family, he needed to forget them so that he can be able to relax a bit.

Mia put her bag on the floor then threw herself on the bed. These were the moments she wished she had friends, but unfortunately she didn't. She would have called her friends and told them how weird her mom is by bringing a random boy into the house, or how uncomfortable it was for her.

She closed her eyes as she thought over it, before she was interrupted by several beeps from her cellphone which was next to her. She normally didn't receive messages unless it was the school group chat, where only the hottest gossip would be responded to so quickly.

Still in her position, she grabbed the cellphone and unlocked it. She saw that it wasn't messages from the school group chat, rather, it was messages from a group which was newly formed. She read the name of the group chat clearly: friends. It was the most basic group chat name she'd ever seen. When she checked the other participants, she saw that it was only Jungwon and Yaxuan.

Mia shook her head as she read the useless messages that were being shared on the group, the boys were simply playing around. She slightly smiled when they mentioned her in the group chat, asking when she will check her phone and reply to her messages.

She hesitated to reply, she didn't really view them as friends. But maybe she had to, maybe they were really her friends. And if they were friends, then she could tell them what was going on. She only prayed that they weren't trying to be friends with her to embarrass her later in school.

She slowly typed in the group chat:

Mia: Hi guys, I'm here.

Mia: You won't believe it but my mom has brought a teenage boy to our house and she says she's gonna keep him a for a while :/

Mia waited but didn't get any reply. She didn't particularly expect one anyway, just like how nobody replied to her in class when she said something. It was typical for her. As she stayed in her position lying on the bed, she finally heard a beep. She didn't want to get her hopes too high, but she checked immediately.

Yaxuan: really? That sounds pretty cool though, it must be boring being an only child.

Mia couldn't believe that someone had answered, and it was actually the school's ex-popular kid Yaxuan. She never thought in a million years that she would be texting him and he would reply. She turned and lied on her tummy, having an urge to text for the first time.

Mia: not really, I actually enjoyed it. And it's really awkward for me. I'm not used to this.

Jungwon: who is he anyway? Where'd she take him?

Mia: it's the boy who fell at school at day

Yaxuan: really?

Jungwon: whoa! That's so awesome Mia! You're gonna stay in the house with someone who's experienced a vampire!?

Jungwon: you have got to find out what happened!

Mia: I already told you he doesn't know anything Jungwon.

Jungwon: I hope he'll start attending our school.

'Mia!!!' her mother announced before opening the door. 'Come help me with supper.'

'Oh I'm coming.' Mia answered as she finished up her text with a smile.

Her mother put her hand on her waist. 'Please don't tell me you're texting that Jungwon kid.'

'No.' Well, it was a white lie, Jungwon wasn't the only one she was texting after all.

'Alright, just that I haven't seen you texting before. You haven't even taken your uniform off yet.'

Mia finally finished the message and sent it to the group chat. 'Yes mom, I know. I'll change and come downstairs.'

'Please do.'

...

The next morning, Mia woke up earlier like she had started doing, all to avoid Jungwon. She went straight into the main bathroom and looked herself in the mirror. As expected, her hair was all over the place, and her eyes seemed a bit swollen like they did every morning. She washed her face before she could start showering.

She started to remove her pajama to get into the shower but suddenly stopped when she noticed a zit on her forehead. 'Oh no, where did you come from?' she asked it as if it would reply.

She wasn't one to worry very much about it, she would simply cover it with her hair rather than putting her hair in a ponytail like she usually did. She had had zits before, and she applied apple cider vinegar and it would be gone at most in a week.

Mia wrapped her skimpy blue towel around herself, then walked out of the bathroom. She wanted to get the apple cider before her mom woke up and would ask her why she's going to school very early, and in most mornings she was in the kitchen.

She walked in the kitchen with her towel and house slippers, humming a song quietly. The curtains in the kitchen were still closed, so the kitchen appeared dark. She walked over to the kitchen counter and opened the top most cabinet and grabbed the apple cider vinegar.

The moment Mia turned around, she felt like screaming. There was a boy sitting by the counter behind her with his cellphone screen illuminating him. She was scared for a moment before she remembered Zhenyuan was in the house, and now she was rather embarrassed than afraid.

'What are you doing in here!?' She asked suddenly, holding her towel to herself as if she was overexposed.

'I woke up so I decided to sit in the kitchen, couldn't find the light switch.' Zhenyuan answered her plainly. Mia seemed to be the only one embarrassed because Zhenyuan seemed like he didn't mind anything.

Mia could understand why he left the bedroom, it was stuffy and small, he probably needed to be somewhere else.

'Why are you up this early?' Zhenyuan asked her instead.

'School.'

Zhenyuan noticed that she looked uncomfortable, so he chuckled instead. 'You're like a little sister to me, why do you seem so flustered? You can go anyway.'

Mia quickly walked back to the bathroom with the vinegar and the most furious blush on her face. She wished the ground could just open up and swallow her at that moment. She didn't want to see him again on that particular day, and she was hoping she wouldn't.

When she was leaving for school, she would use the front door so that she wouldn't have to see him again.
