Mia walked into the house once she had arrived at 10am, with so many thoughts running into her mind. Although official media didn't want to confirm it, everybody on social media was talking about the vampires that had found their way to Roselake. She was scared to say the least.
'You came back from school all by yourself? Didn't you hear the news?' Zhenyuan asked her, rising from the couch.
'I wasn't alone.' She answered lowly then regretted it.
'You were with Jungwon?'
'No, my friend Yaxuan.' She corrected herself.
'I don't think so. Your mom said you and Jungwon are the only teenagers around here. She said she was even worried that you two are gonna date.' he folded his arms. 'So I don't think anyone else from your school would walk home with you.'
Wow, how much detail did mom tell him? She felt like rolling her eyes.
'Date Jungwon?' Mia sighed. 'Why would I do that? That's so weird.'
'Why wouldn't you?'
Mia frowned, she didn't want to talk about her dating life with this boy who was acting like he's been in the family all his life. It also made her remember how embarrassed she was that morning, and she started to get red in the face again. She quickly changed the subject. 'Did you have breakfast?'
Zhenyuan shook his head. 'No I think I'm good.'
'When last did you eat?' she wondered.
'I had supper last night.' he nodded.
'You seriously must be hungry. You're just shy to make your own food because you don't live here right?' she tried to force a smile. 'I'm sure mom just forgot to tell you that you can have whatever you want. I'll make you something.'
Zhenyuan wanted to decline, but instead he simply nodded his head. He didn't want to seem rude by denying the offer. The truth was: he didn't necessarily like the food that he had the night before...or any other day at the hospital. For some reason, the food didn't seem to suit his palette and almost seemed tasteless. He concluded that he had probably interrupted the part of his brain responsible for appetite when he fell from heavens knows where.
Mia quickly walked into the kitchen to avoid being alone with him again, trying to avoid getting shy around him like she usually was. She checked the cabinet for some flour and put it on the kitchen counter.
Unfortunately, Zhenyuan followed her into the kitchen. 'So what are you gonna make? Please make something light and small.'
Mia turned to him. 'I was gonna make you pancakes, traditional breakfast. Do you like pancakes?'
'Pancakes.' Zhenyuan repeated, having had them at the hospital several times. He didn't like them, but he didn't want to offend Mia by admitting that or making demands in someone else's house. Instead, he nodded his head. 'Pancakes sound good.'
'Great.' Mia grabbed a bowl and started to make the mixture for the pancake.
Zhenyuan leaned on the counter and watched as Mia created the mixture. He didn't know any girls at all, but something in his head told him she was different. He believed he still had some traces of his memory, the annoying thing was not knowing where exactly these traces were coming from. He wished he could figure it out. He ended up getting lost in his thoughts while her eyes were set on her, although he wasn't particularly looking at her.
Mia looked at him uncomfortably then walked over to the stove to turn it on. 'Can you stop that?'
'What?' Zhenyuan asked honestly. He then removed his arms from the counter. 'Sorry, I wasn't staring at you though. I was thinking about some other things.'
