Roselake High School is not an interesting place. It's the typical high school with the braniacs, the jokesters, the popular ones and the less popular ones. It's just like any other public school, and extraordinary things rarely happen there.

One student is still sitting in the corner of the classroom even though classes have ended and many students are on break. She's what you would call the typical wall flower. With her black straight hair and basic features, Mia hardly gets noticed. Worse still, she tends to sit in the corner during every class. She wasn't a misfit, she just didn't involve herself in much.

She watched as the different members of the class interacted inside the classroom while some walked outside to enjoy the sunshine. Her eyes briefly met with Yaxuan's who was with his five friends, but she immediately looked away from him. Yaxuan was one of the most popular and most loved students on the school, but he wasn't mean at all. In fact, most people would say he was kind and helpful. But Mia had never talked to him before even though they had the same classes.

Another member of the classroom walked in with several books stacked on top of one another. He held them to his chest as he walked in, grabbing the attention of Yaxuan and his friends who were standing at his desk.

'More books on the supernatural world we don't know about?' Chengxin, one of Yaxuan's friends, teased. Chengxin spoke more and had a more commandeering presence than Yaxuan, and he just wasn't as nice as him. However, just like everyone, he was beginning to think that the student who had just walked in was losing it.

'Yes,' Jungwon answered mindlessly as he continued to walk to his desk which was on the opposite corner to Mia's.

'Wait,' Chengxin grabbed his shoulder and stopped him, forcing him to turn around. 'Don't you think you're being a bit too much? Don't tell me you actually believe in that stuff.'

'What's your problem if I did?' Jungwon held the books closer as if to show Chengxin that he wasn't thinking of leaving those books any time soon.

Mia watched with interest as Jungwon and Chengxin went on talking about the books Jungwon had apparently collected. Mia wasn't one to pay much attention to the lives of her classmates, but Jungwon sure was an interesting person. Just like her, he had no friends, but he was much more popular than she was because he was weird. She blended in like every invisible girl would, while Jungwon stuck out like a sore thumb.

After conversing with Chengxin for a few more seconds, Jungwon walked back to his desk and opened one of his multitude of books. He started skimming through the content that was listed at the beginning of the book. Jungwon always found a way to make people feel curious about him.

However, Mia was surprised at how Chengxin could talk to Jungwon as if he was just any regular person. There was a dark story surrounding Jungwon's life, and many students on the school were scared of him for that reason.

Jungwon knew the students at the school were scared of him for that reason, and even though in he tried to make friends and defend himself in the first year of school, he decided to let it go by the sophomore year. Maybe being feared wasn't that bad after all. It surely gave him more time to focus on what was more important to him.

When the bell rang indicating the end of recess, the students slowly returned to their seats. Classes progressed normally for the rest of the day, and nothing seemed to break the monotony. When school was finally over, Mia packed her bags and started walking home.

She always walked alone when going home, and that was something she had gotten used to and learned to enjoy. She put on her earphones which were connected to her cellphone and started to listen to the slow music by Billie Eilish.
