Zhenyuan walked out from his room into the living room. It was around 7pm, and they had just had pizza for supper. Mia was sitting in the living room with her laptop on the table and her notebook in her lap, doing the homework they had been given that day.
'Have you done your homework Zhenyuan?' she asked him as she looked away from her laptop.
'No not yet.' He went over to the couch and sat next to her. He looked visibly distraught and perhaps exhausted.
'Why not? Do you need some help?' she suggested with a small smile.
He shook his head. 'No. I'm just sort of a mess right now. I've been thinking a lot lately.'
'About?'
'Who I am. In case you didn't know, I don't know where I came from or why my family won't even bother to find out where I am anyway.' he looked up at the ceiling.
'Don't think that, maybe they're dead.' Mia said then instantly regretted it.
Zhenyuan gave her a look.
'No! I don't mean you should be sad. I kinda meant it like...you shouldn't feel like you're the problem that your family doesn't want you or something. They probably want you but maybe they're dead.' She sighed. 'This is why I don't usually talk.'
Zhenyuan chuckled. 'I get what you were trying to mean...but I wish I knew they were dead if that's the case. Living in mystery sucks.'
'Did you ever consider checking where you fell from? Maybe there will be some clues which we ignored.'
Zhenyuan widened his eyes. 'Yeah, yeah you're right. Maybe there's something...like a wallet, an ID of some school...just something. Why didn't you suggest this all this time!?'
'Well I didn't think of it.' She shrugged.
Zhenyuan felt like it was really a good idea, it would probably bring him one step closer to finding out what was going on. He wanted to tell Mia the strange signs he was experiencing, but he didn't want to scare her. If she felt like he could be a vampire, she would probably be so uncomfortable to be alone with him so often.
He suddenly felt that desire again, the alluring smell he sensed in the classroom when the girl had cut her finger and when he had slammed Mia to the wall. But he didn't have it for other people unless they had a wound, but Mia didn't seem to have any open wound on her.
'Hey, you don't happen to have a cut do you?' Zhenyuan asked her curiously.
'No why?'
'No reason.'
But with the way he was looking at her, Mia didn't believe there was no reason. However, she didn't want to ask. She looked back at her laptop and continued to work on her homework.
'Wait, I have another question. Do you know this other crazy guy from the street?' Zhenyuan went on, now trying to understand the man who had stopped him and Yaxuan.
'A crazy guy?' Mia turned to him. 'I don't know...where from? I don't know everyone you know.'
'The side of the street near a certain kindergarten.' he tried to clarify much more. Perhaps if she knew the location, she would remember the person. What that man said added more mystery to Zhenyuan's life. He somehow made him feel like his doubts about his identity were right.
'No I don't know him.' She shook her head. She wanted to ask why, but Zhenyuan was probably not going to answer that as well. She turned her face to the laptop once again.
Zhenyuan was once again lost in thought, he needed to know as soon as possible.
...
The next day at school, Zhenyuan was actually excited to be at this familiar place. He didn't care much about the lessons, in fact he probably didn't get anything from the lessons. He was going to search the area during lunch time, and thankfully, all his three friends had agreed to help him search.
