In the silence of the night, Zhenyuan started to feel uncomfortable with the tension between him and Mia. He didn't want her to be mad at him, realizing he loved her more than he thought. He took his cellphone and put it in his pajama pocket, hoping to use it to check the time in case he ended up overstaying. He didn't want to sleep too late.

He got up from his bed even though it was almost midnight, and made his way up the stairs. He was hoping that Aunt Kiki wouldn't hear him going up the stairs; that would otherwise put him trouble with them.

He knocked on the door softly then pushed it open, not waiting for a response. Mia's eyes immediately snapped open at the sound of someone entering her room, and she turned on the lamp next to her.

She didn't say anything, she simply watched as Zhenyuan approached her bed. He finally sat down on it, taking a long deep sigh. 'I'm sorry.' he finally said.

Mia didn't answer for a while but she nodded. 'I think I sort of overreacted. I didn't mean to make you feel bad. I was just kind of disappointed with you but I get your philosophy. Maybe I just blindly agree with humans because I am one.' She smiled.

Yes she was, and Zhenyuan was not. They were bound to be on two different sides. 'Hey Mia, let me ask you a question. What would you do if a vampire fell in love with you and you fell in love with him too?'

'Why would I fall in love with a vampire in the first place!?' Mia picked up her pillow and whacked him with it. 'That may have seemed romantic in the Twilight Saga but vampires are really creepy and I wouldn't love one.'

'No I mean,' Zhenyuan took the pillow from her and laid it on the bed, 'what would you do if you were already in love with the person then you found out he's a vampire?'

'I'd run for my life and call the cops. I wouldn't love a vampire, especially with what happened to my mom.' Mia replied in a serious tone. 'You have no idea how much I hate vampires.'

Zhenyuan nodded. 'Are you in love with me?'

Mia's cheeks immediately turned pink. She felt shy with the sudden question that seemed to come out of nowhere. 'Wha...what?'

'I'll go first. I like you.' Zhenyuan admitted and tilted his head. 'Do you like me?'

'Mmm I guess,' she nodded her head, not wanting to give him too much detail and embarrass herself.

'I see,' Zhenyuan nodded. She liked him, but she didn't like him for the real him. It was a childish thing to believe her love was real. Zhenyuan leaned in closer to her, making her shrink away from him.

But she knew what was about to happen, she had seen it in several movies before. She let him lean in and closed her eyes, anticipating the feeling of Zhenyuan's lips on hers.

But he had something else on his mind. He didn't want to kiss her, he wanted to bite her and do what he was supposed to do. Her talk of the vampires concreted the fact that she would never love him. He was better off doing things for his species – it was what he was born for anyway.

Mia was surprised when Zhenyuan's moved to her neck rather than to her mouth. She opened her eyes, but she had no idea what he was about to do. Zhenyuan hesitated despite the strong force pulling him, but he finally drew out his fangs. He hadn't sunken them into her yet, still not sure if he wanted to do this to Mia despite how much she seemed to love him and wanted him around. When Mia felt something cold and hard against her neck, she immediately moved away from him and was surprised when she saw a pair of fangs.

She wanted to scream, but her voice wouldn't come out. Instead, she just found herself pushing herself into the corner.

Zhenyuan didn't even bother to hide his fangs, at this point he felt he was tired of lying to her and lying to anyone else. And there was no point lying to Mia who had absolute hatred for vampires and probably hated him too. He straightened himself. 'Are you scared?'

Mia was visibly shaking, but somehow found herself speaking. 'Who...who turned you into a vampire?'

'No Mia, I was born a vampire.' Zhenyuan leaned in again, trying to complete his mission and unable to resist the allure. There was no reason for him to resist it anyway. He narrowed his eyes like an animal reaching for it's prey.

'Zhenyuan...please don't kill me...please.' Mia begged.

'I don't want to kill you,' he continued to lean in. 'Trust me, I wouldn't.'

Suddenly, Mia was able to find her voice and screamed on top of her lungs. She was so loud that it startled Zhenyuan as well, and it was as if he was brought to a certain level of his senses. He looked at how fearful she was, almost crying. He felt guilty for how he had scared her.

'I'm so sorry,' he finally said, getting himself off the bed.

'Go away!!!!' Mia shouted then screamed loudly again.

Zhenyuan could hear the sound of footsteps walking towards her room before the door suddenly flew open. Aunt Kiki's husband was standing there with a baseball bat, ready to defend his niece from whatever was trying to hurt her. Aunt Kiki was standing behind him, trying to be of the best help she could.

Seeing Zhenyuan, Aunt Kiki's husband assumed he was trying to do the unthinkable to Mia. But when he looked up at Zhenyuan and saw his fangs, he realized what was going on.

'He's a vampire!' Mia screamed again as she pointed at Zhenyuan.

He was disappointed in her for wanting him to be attacked, but he kind of understood. He had probably scared her too much. Zhenyuan wasn't scared of the bat Aunt Kiki's husband was holding though, he knew he could easily evade the swings because he was much faster.

Aunt Kiki's husband didn't take long to charge at Zhenyuan, wanting to hit him directly in the head to give him a concussion. But Zhenyuan ducked at his unnatural speed, and the bat ended up hitting Mia's bedside lamp behind Zhenyuan. It shattered to the floor, gaining a chaotic response from Aunt Kiki and her husband.

Quickly, Zhenyuan walked over to the window and opened it. He noticed Aunt Kiki's husband trying to take another swing at him, but this time he grabbed the baseball bat and threw it across the room. Zhenyuan then quickly jumped through the window, landing on his feet on the ground outside.

Aunt Kiki's husband ran over to the window and looked outside, only to see that Zhenyuan had ran off into the night. Aunt Kiki immediately entered the room and wrapped Mia in a hug. She held her close then checked on her. 'Oh my goodness, are you okay!?'

Mia nodded fearfully, leaning against her Aunt Kiki.

'Oh my goodness, I don't know what I would have done if anything happened to you.' Aunt Kiki took a sigh of relief.

'Zhenyuan is a vampire!?' Aunt Kiki's husband finally asked. 'Hmm, I think those vampires who came in his room last time and bit him must have turned him into one. I can't believe this.' the man shook his head.

'No, he said he's been a vampire by birth,' Mia answered. 'He...he lost his memory so I guess he didn't remember he's a vampire. Or maybe he was pretending he lost his memory just so that he could be close to humans. I really don't know.'

Aunt Kiki looked at her with a worried face. 'Do you think he's going to return and hurt her again?' She then looked at her husband for a response.

'Vampires don't usually return to their preys. Look at Dr. Carnie and Ding Chengxin, they haven't complained about any vampire attacks again.' her husband assured her. 'I'm so sorry about what happened. I can't believe he fooled you into...'

'No, I'm sorry,' Mia answered, getting out of bed. 'I'm sorry that I didn't have better judgement and thought I could trust someone whom I barely knew. When mom got into the hospital, I should have told him to go into some foster home rather than come here and have you living with a vampire under the same roof. I'm sorry.'

'Honey,' Aunt Kiki said, hugging her. 'You didn't know anything. Besides, if your mother trusted him, it's hard for you to realize that he could be harmful.'

Aunt Kiki's husband nodded.

Mia started to cry against her bosom, she felt sorry for herself as well; sorry that she fell in love with a vampire and let him get close to her.
