The Soothsayer

King Aiden sat tall on his throne, waiting in that long room, where he had sat many of years before. It was a beautiful room with tall pillars holding up the ceiling. There was a balcony on the sides where many of people would stand when he was presenting an important matter to the people. Out of habit, the King ran his hand through his light brown, gray streaked hair. His bright blue eyes looked at the door, occasionally, his eyelids would grow too heavy to keep open, so he would shut them and let his mind wonder. There was only one thing he could think of, and that was his son, Leland.

The King had been awoken early that morning, by one of Leland’s servants. The servant told him that his son, his only son, had run away. They did not know where he was going, but they assured the King that they had sent a Dweller after him. Worried, the king asked whom they sent, and he was not surprised when they told him that it was Audreana. His thoughts turned to the young Dweller.

Audreana was eight, when she came to the castle without any family members to care for her. An unusual arrival came with her though, a shocking man, whom King Aiden had known to be dead. He came to the King’s private chambers that following night. The long lost King of Elixir, King Damek, the King of the First Age, whose family who had died out long ago, spoke with the new King of Elixir, about the mysterious child Audreana. He told him that Audreana was a person who could not control her gift. He also told him of her accident with her guardian, Nixie. There was another thing that Damek told him, but that information was something he did not want to think about.

Aiden learned that Audreana was more than people would know. He was willing to keep that secret, though. A bond soon grew between the young girl and Leland. Both, however, seemed to cause a lot of trouble, but Auden grew to love the girl for she was so full of life, something that more Elixirns should have carried with them. She had a kind spirit, one that didn’t seem to see the flaws but the best in people. She had always been supportive to a case that she believed in; it was those things that made Audreana special.

So, as Audreana grew, so did Aiden’s love for her. She too, seemed to be comfortable around the King, almost as if he were an uncle figure to her. Aiden loved to watch her grow. She was becoming a fine young lady, one that would make any parent proud. Aiden was proud of her too, because she had done so many things that made her stand out in good ways.

A smile curled upon the King’s lips, as he remembered the young girl’s faces, when seeing him. She would always light up when the King would speak to her. That hardly happened anymore, because of the trouble her and Leland had been causing. The thing was that the King found their stunts comical. Deep within the King’s memories he could remember a boy just like them. When he had been young and before he realized what his role meant, he did things like that, for he never had a care in the world. His thoughts turned again, this time to his own childhood.

Aiden was the first child of King Martin. Jaden his younger brother and he were two completely different boys. Aiden was a comical boy, running around the castle playing tricks on people of his father’s court. He refused to do Prince work. Jaden was different, he liked to roam around outdoors reading, or writing and often times he would practice his bow skills. Aiden was having fun doing the things that he had grown up doing, until the day that he learned what it really meant to be Prince. Thus, making Aiden step up and leave the pranks for the servant boys.

A frown, suddenly, replaced the smile he wore, as he thought of his brother. He wanted to know if things had been different if Jaden and he had been put in each others boots. It made Aiden wonder if Jaden would be sitting on the throne early awaiting news on his son, hoping that he was alright. He wondered if maybe he would be deep within side the King’s Hall, the place that the royal family would be put after their death, watching down below from Heaven’s gates.
