As the two walked through the city, Mono couldn't help but ponder about the Thin Man's words. Would the knight betray him? Had it been using him all this time? Mono didn't know what to think anymore. He needed to ask the knight himself. He needed to know if they were truly friends.
The knight spotted a bench, and lead Mono over. Mono didn't mind. He needed to sit down and rest for a while after the encounter with the Thin Man. As he sat down, he looked over at the knight.
"Hey, can I ask you something?" He said, looking over.
The knight nodded.
"If we ended up in a situation where you had a choice to either save me, or yourself, what would you choose?" Mono asked.
The knight shook its head.
"What do you mean?" Mono asked, feeling confused.
The knight pointed to both of them.
"Oh, you'd find a way to save us both?"
The knight nodded. Mono gave out a chuckle.
"Still, if you couldn't save both of us, what would you choose?" Mono asked the knight.
Without hesitation, the knight pointed to Mono.
"Really?" Mono asked.
The knight continued to nod.
"Thanks," Mono said.
The knight tilted its head, and Mono understood what it was asking.
"No, reason. The Thin Man's words got to me a little bit."
The knight leaned back on the bench, and soon, they both got up and continued towards the Signal Tower. Suddenly, as they were walking, Mono heard the sound of static approaching them. Knowing exactly what it was, Mono grabbed his friend, and pulled it into a nearby building. Once inside, they both peered out the window, looking for the Thin Man.
"Come out boy, don't make me come find you," the Thin Man said.
Mono ducked under the window, and signaled for the knight to follow him. It did so, and the two of them ran through the building. Suddenly, Mono heard the sound of footsteps walking towards them. The Thin Man was inside. Mono and the knight quickly hid behind two chests, and watched as the Thin Man walked by. Once he was gone, they both continued to run through the building, looking for a way out. After a long time of searching, they came to a dead end at the end of a long hallway. Mono looked behind him, and almost screamed.
"Found you," The Thin Man said.
Thinking fast, Mono pulled out his ladle, and began to hit some weak boards in the wall. The knight caught on, and struck the boards with its nail. The boards broke apart, and the two started to run into the hole in the wall. As they did, Mono felt time slow down, causing him to panic. They ran into another room, and looked for a possible escape. There was nothing but a broken elevator in a shaft. As the Thin Man warped behind them, Mono and the knight ran to the elevator, and began to jump.
The chain holding the elevator broke, and they fell down to the bottom floor. They crashed down, and fell out of the elevator, landing on the hard, rocky floor. Mono stood up, and felt a searing pain in his hip. The knight ran over, checking to see if he was okay.
"I'm fine," he grunted. "Just hurt my hip."
The knight helped Mono walk out of the room, and into the outside. Once out, Mono stared at the Signal Tower, looming above them. Suddenly, the Thin Man appeared in front of them.
"Get behind me," Mono said to the knight.
The knight backed up behind Mono, and the Thin Man walked towards them.
