Little Dreams and Hollow Nightmares

Well, I didn't expect to be writing this, but in the end, you never know what will happen. I don't know if any of you will read this chapter. The story is over, there's nothing left. All I have are a few words, and small pieces of advice to give.

I'll start with where this began.

I started writing during the pandemic, because I had nothing better to do. I stumbled across Wattpad when I was browsing Little Nightmares images, and one of the links took me here. I saw there was a whole story with that image, as well as a whole pltform for writing stories.

In my earliest days on Wattpad, I read Little Nightmares stories, fanfics, and crossovers. It was then I was bitten by the need for a certain crossover. One between Little Nightmares, and my favorite game, Hollow Knight. I searched all over Wattpad to find something like that, but found nothing.

I had the monumental idea then, to do it myself. I formed the plot, wrote out the structure, and designed a cover on Canva. It was originally just going to be a story about Mono and the knight, but my imagination did what it did best, and went overboard.

And that's how this book began. Instead of going into detail about every little thing, I'm just going to mention a few things in particular.

First, the phases. I divided the story into phases, because originally, I wanted to make them all separate. However, I noticed that follow up books don't get as many reads as the first book, so I put all the books together, separating them into phases.

Now I'm going to talk about the original phase 4.

Originally, the Radiance was supposed to survive in phase 3, ending with the gang going to the Junk Pit to find the Godseeker, and end the Radiance once and for all. Phase 4 would've been made of chapters where the characters adventured across the dream realm to find gods for the Godseeker. Theknight and Hornet would confront the Pale King, Mono and Six would confront the Signal Tower, and Seven and the Grimmchild would face Nightmare King Grimm.

In the end it would've been the same ending, just with a longer phase 4. So why didn't I write that, instead if the official phase 4?

Short answer, I WAS TIRED.

I am going to say this with full honesty. NEVER write a story as long as this, unless you have the motivation. By the end of phase 3, I was losing interest, and I did not want to write a whole other phase. So I shortened it into the Epilogue phase, and took a long break.

Now, I have gotten some comments from people who have made my day during the development of this story, so to those of you like me, here's my advice.

1. Write something that hasn't been written before.

The best way to gain attention, and grow on Wattpad, is to write something new. If there had been another Little Nightmares x Hollow Knight story before this, I don't know if it would have performed as well as it did.

Find something that you think works, and write about it. If what you want to write has already been written, write it anyway! Every story is different, and no one can entertain everybody, so write your story!

2. Start Writing.

This is different for everyone, but in my personal experience, all I needed to do to get a chapter out, was start writing. Just like that, I was engaged, locked in, focused, and I was able to finish. It didn't matter if I had a full plan for the chapter, or a small idea fir it, if I started writing, I would finish it.

3. Beware Novelhd.com.

I hate this site, I hate it so much. If you read this story, you will know my beef with Novelhd.com. Best advice I can give? Make sure you list your stories having an original release on Wattpad.

Also criticize and insult Novelhd.com whenever you get the chance to let them know that you hate them. Maybe then they'll stop. If not, just let them know you hate them.

I could go on with these tips, but I'm here to give my thoughts, not professional writing advice.

With that, I, and maybe all of you are asking, "what's next?" Or maybe not. Maybe you don't care, and that's perfectly fine. As long as I've entertained you for even a moment, that's fine by me.

Well, I might take a break, and just play some video games, or play some more Hollow Knight. I just recently beat the Pantheon of Hallownest.

I don't think I can write another Little Nightmares story though. I used everything I had in this one, that I don't think I can ever write another one about Mono, Six, or Seven. But if Little Nightmares 3 comes around, I might reconsider.

However, I cannot say the same about Hollow Knight. I mentioned the Pantheon of Hallownest, because I think I've found my next story idea. I do have yet to write something about the Godseeker, so we'll wait and see.

Whatever the future brings, thank you for being with me on this journey, even when it moved slower than a sloth in a snail shell.

Whatever my next book ends up being, I'll see you in it.
