(A/N: Since none of y'all commented on my last chapter about whether or not I should post the new book, I'm gonna do it anyway. Please check it out once you finish reading this chapter!)

"This is gonna take a long time," Jay announced.

She motioned with her hands towards the two chairs in the room, so Harry and Louis pulled them toward her hospital bed, sitting down next to each other.

Louis grabbed Harry's hand for support, before giving his mum his undivided attention.

"Start from the beginning, mum."

"Well," She cleared her throat, "I met Devin one night while I was working, and we really had chemistry together. It was about the time you were telling me how Harry had read one of your thirst seeking messages on instagram."

Louis felt his face flush, and glancing at Harry, he could see the man biting his lip to keep back the laughter, looking at Louis fondly.

"But that's besides the point," Jay continued with a smirk, "I had asked him if he wanted to get a drink with me that same night after I got off work, and he agreed.

"So, we had a drink together. And then a few days later, another. And it continued on with little drink dates practically every day, before he finally asked me to be his girlfriend. Now, Louis, you know how long it's been since I was in a relationship. I was honestly starting to fall for Devin, too. But then, a week or so after we became an official couple, he started acting very possessive of me. At first, I thought it was cute of him. That he cared so much about me, you know?

"But then, it stared making me scared, because he would forcefully take my phone from my hands if someone I didn't talk about often tried calling me, or messaging me on any type of app.

"Then, a month in, I began noticing some of my contacts going missing, and when I asked him about it, he got mad at me and started calling me a whore for wanting to have so many contacts on my phone when 'he was the only one I needed.'

"Two months in, and he was keeping my phone with him, not letting me use it at all. And when I was using it, he was almost always watching what I was doing. And then when he would take it back, he'd make sure I hadn't done anything suspicious.

"Then, another month later, and he was getting physical. He'd hit me, punch me, kick me, pinch me, even bite or burn me. I became too scared to confront him, and I'd often be locked up in the house while he was gone. He had forcefully moved himself into my home a bit after he started becoming physical, though he still had his own house, but-"

Before Jay could finish her sentence, a nurse came in, and told Louis and Harry that they had to leave so Jay could rest, but that they could still go and visit Niall since he had just been resting and was now eating - of course.

Louis was very reluctant to leave, and he was crying pretty messily, making Jay cry, too.

They held each other for a long while, before Harry had to pull him off of her so she could rest.

Jay kissed Louis' cheek, hugging him one last time (by Ariana Grande) before she looked to Harry, reaching her arms out and motioning for him to come forward.

He gladly hugged her, his cheeks flaming when she kissed his cheek, too.

He smiled wide, though.

He was so happy Louis' mum liked him.

He just wished they had met in a better way. A better time, place, circumstance.

"Take care of my baby, Harry. I trust you with my whole heart, but if you ever hurt him, I will hold it against you forever," She whispered.
