Already seeing people panicking and pointing up toward the top, Venom latched onto the Monument, climbing up. He opened half of his face for Dylan to see out of and to notice Peter coming up as well.

Dylan imagined the Monument to be shorter, like when she saw it from afar. Yet now being up close with it, how far they were off the ground kind of frightened her.

She could feel her heart quickening along with the adrenaline pumping through her veins. She was sweating bullets, trying not to look down and praying for Venom not to lose his grip.

But Dylan needed to make sure Peter was doing okay since she was about a hundred feet away from him. And that was a bad idea, her breath hitched at the sight of the ground. How tiny the people seemed from below was not helping her fear at all.

The up-and-coming sounds of helicopters came from behind. Dylan avoided turning her head. Just because she showed Peter her identity, doesn't mean she wants the rest of the world to know. For her own safety, she ignored them as they told her to "please stop and return to the ground" through the speaker.

I try different.

Dylan furrowed her eyebrows. "What?" And before she knew it, Venom had let go only to hoist himself up. The fear had risen in Dylan as she closed her eyes, waiting to fall to her death but was then revealed to see that they were still in the air.

Venom's arm was attached to the monument as he swung around it and reattached his arm to get higher in a faster way. They made it up to the top at the point and Dylan tried to stay calm and not look down as Venom was taking a rest. The winds were whistling, making everything at that moment calmer for Dylan

The helicopter was circling them at this point, telling them through the loudspeaker to get down. Dylan could see they came prepared with guns when things got complicated. She gulped, waiting for Peter to get there.

And she could hear the faint sounds of groans and someone panting. Dylan moved Venom a bit forward so she could take a look and sure enough, there was Peter, taking a breath on the side, standing on a window frame.

"Okay. Oh. My God," Peter was saying, looking down. Dylan worried for him, seeing he was also having a hard time with the height situation. He then shot a web and started to attempt to break the window. Dylan wanted to help but was hesitating.

"Hey, Venom!" Peter's voice caught both their attention. "Distract the helicopter, will ya?"

They nodded, taking orders. They looked at the helicopter that was inching close to the top of the Monument.

"This is D.C. Metro Police. Identify yourself," the loudspeaker must've triggered Venom because as the speaker's microphone ringed after Venom roared, not liking that sound.

The men aimed their guns in Dylan's way and she was prepared for the worst. "Return to the ground immediately," they said.

Dylan looked at Peter. "Hey!" She yelled. "Get in there now!" Dylan said before covering her face and Venom roaring more at the police.

"Stand down!" They demanded and Peter began to break the window. Venom kept the police busy by roaring at them, they held their fire. "This is your last chance!"

Peter climbed past Dylan and she heard him say, "Oh, I'm gonna die," before jumping off, using his web wings and attaching a web to the helicopter to swing. Giving him a boost, he swung around and into the window, breaking and going through it.

Venom turned into liquid, taking Dylan with him and slithering into the open window and forming fully again.

The shifting messed with Dylan's head but she couldn't think at the moment, seeing Peter sliding on the ground and attaching a web to hold up the elevator that his friends were supposedly in.

He launched forward and used the sides of the remaining doors for support as he tightly held onto his web. But the doors soon break, making Peter fall forward along with his friends.

Dylan screamed, "No!" running forward and jumping out. Everything happened so fast for her, she didn't have time to think as it all happened in slow-motion.

She saw Peter in the elevator and shooting webs her way. She grabbed it and Venom attached her hand up to the ceiling.

I've got us.

Everyone's screams filled her ears as Venom helped her hold on to the web. Dylan felt like her arms would rip off at any second if it wasn't for Venom as he replaced her arm with his.

Dylan dangling as she held onto the elevator, never imagining this would happen to her. "Venom, cover my face, please," she said, grunting and he did.

Dylan could feel a movement coming from the bottom yet she avoided looking down.

She looked around seeing other people outside the doors staring at her. She wondered if they saw her face by any chance during that whole scene.

As she caught her breath, she held on as Peter came up with the elevator, finally noticing Dylan was helping out.

"Good job, Venom, you're doing great," he said, catching Dylan off guard yet she felt a bit confident now after he said that.

And when he referred to her as Venom, like that was her code name. Kind of like Spider-Man was his.

Everyone in the elevator looked her way, seeing Venom's face and not hers. They still looked scared but the big guy was the only one smiling.

"Go, go, go. Everybody out!" Peter ordered as they all started to hurry. Dylan noticed part of the elevator would cave in on Peter at any minute. "Move it, people! Move it! Move it!"

There was one girl left on the elevator before the metal underneath Peter broke off, causing the whole thing to fall.

"Liz!"

Dylan watched as Peter let go, only to save the girl. Dylan's mind clicked when she heard him yell her name.

Liz screamed as she fell back, plummeting to her death until Peter shot a web that attached to her hand.

The rest of the elevator fell down, making a big boom, hitting the bottom.

Liz gasped when Peter's hand grabbed her and pulled her up, she soon pulled up by other people. Dylan tried to hold back a laugh when Peter did a Queens accent.

"So is everyone okay?" Yet after, he had a moment of staring back at Liz which, in some way, made Dylan feel... maybe...

I let go.

Dylan's eyes widened. "What?!" And his grip releases from the ceiling. Peter's web snaps, making the both of them fall down the Monument.

Dylan's screams echoed throughout the empty elevator shaft as the wind flowed through her hair.

She thought this was it.

Peter's web wrapped around her waist, pulling her into him and to the side.

She gasped looking down then back up at Peter. She leaned her head against his shoulder, recollecting what just happened.

Peter almost died, she almost died as well and his friends almost died. She was not prepared and couldn't process it.

Peter gripped her tighter as she held on for dear life. "It's okay, we're fine," Peter said, reassuring her. He could feel her shaky breath hitting his neck but he ignored it for the time being. They both looked at each other as echoes came from above.

"Are you really friends with Peter Parker?"
