Ponyboy's P.O.V.

I held the girl. I didn't cry. I had to be strong for her. She sobbed uncontrollably as I held her. I knew her and Soda had grown close in that short time span, but I never realized she liked him that much. I took her to my room and sat her on the bed. I sat down next to her and held her in my arms. She pushed me away and walked to my desk. She picked up a few books and put them in a pile. She put my papers in a pile. She found a cup and put my pencils in them. The last thing on my desk was Gone with the Wind. It was sitting right in the middle of the desk. She stared at it for awhile. She picked it up slowly and began to put it on the pile of books. Before she could the letter from Johnny fell out. She picked it up. I rushed over and grabbed it out of her hands. She looked at me surprised then held out her hand. I knew she wanted to read it, but I wasn't sure if I wanted her to. She looked at me with pleading eyes. "Fine. Go ahead." I said handing her the letter. She read through it and when she was done she handed it back. I was getting ready to explain when I heard the front door slam shut. I grabbed her hand and we ran downstairs. I saw Soda and Darry standing there and I knew I would have to tell them. I went and got the letter. "It's for you Soda." I muttered as I handed it to him. Soda's eyes widened as he opened and read the letter. He shut his eyes tight as he handed it to Darry. Darry read it and I saw him breaking down mentally. I saw the letter slip out of Darry's hands as he fell backwards on the couch. The girl ran forward and put her fingers on his neck. When she turned around her face was urgent. She pointed to the phone and I knew I needed to call the hospital. I picked up the phone and made the call. "Hello. This is Ponyboy Curtis. My older brother Darrel Curtis is..." I stopped because I didn't know what was wrong. I looked back at the girl and she made a heart and symboled that his heart was breaking. "Hello?" The nurse asked. "Yeah! He's having a heart attack!" I yelled.
