Ponyboy's P.O.V.

The ambulance finally made it. I wanted to go along, but Soda made me stay. After they left I walked in the kitchen. If only I hadn't shown them that stupid letter! I got mad and punched the wall. The girl came in and she saw me holding my hand. Gosh it hurt a lot. She went and got some ice then came back. She put the ice on my hand and looked at me. I looked up and caught her gaze. She had bright blue eyes and her hair was the perfect shade of dirty blonde. I looked away and took the ice off. I put it back in the fridge and got a couple slices of cake I gave one to her and kept one for myself. We went and sat down and I began eating. She sat there for awhile then got up and ran off. I looked over at her cake. It was untouched. Man she really needs to eat something. I wonder when she last ate. She came back in with a piece of paper. She gave it to me and I started to read it. "My name is Belle. I want to be friends with you. It's my fault Soda's going to Veitnam and Darry's in the hospital. I want to know who Johnny and Dally were and what Johnny was talking about." I looked up at her. "It's not you fault Soda's going to Veitnam and Darry's in the hospital. Johnny and Dally were my friends. They died a few weeks ago." I told her. She picked up the pencil and began writing again. She handed back the paper. "It is my fault Soda and Darry are in danger. I made a deal with Death and he'll do anything to help me." My eyes widened. I looked back up at her. "What's he gonna do to you?" I asked. She wrote on the paper again. "He's going to end my suffering. He said I can only say the name of the person who will end it." I was confused to be honest. I looked up at her. "Ponyboy." She said. That's when it clicked. I was the person who would end her suffering. I didn't know what to think. It was all too much. I couldn't kill a girl, much less a friend. I took a deep breath. "No." I said. She looked scared. She wrote on the paper again. "You have too. I'm begging you. Please." I couldn't do it, so what do I do instead? I stood up and, just out of the blue, kissed her. She seemed startled at first, but then calmed down. After a few seconds her eyes flashed open and she pushed me away. She ran into her room and slammed the door. Great. Looks like I tried to skin the cat the wrong way. I walked to her door and knocked. "Belle. I know your in here. You know there's a saying. There's more than one way to skin a cat. Maybe there's more than one way to get out of this deal." I said. "Go ahead. You can talk now. I won't hurt you." A deep voice from the other side said. "Belle who's in there?" I asked. She didn't answer. I got nervous. There was someone on that side of the door with Belle and I didn't know who it was. I turned the nob and realized it was open. I walked in the room and saw the dark figure standing in the room. I sucked in my breath and held it once I found out who it was. I had just walked in on Death.
