"Come on man, everyone else is going. You don't even have to sing. Just come have a few beers." Eijiro Kirishima pleaded with his best friend Katsuki Bakugou, who was lazily laying on his bed flipping through a hero magazine, clearly uninterested in whatever Kirishima had to say to him.
Tomorrow was their graduation ceremony and Class 1A was getting together one last time before they all went their separate ways.
"You can laugh at me all you want." Denki Karminari added, flipping through one of the black spiral notebooks that Bakugou had on his desk--which Bakugou quickly shot out of bed with a curse and snatched it from him. Bakugou would rather die than have anyone look inside that notebook.
From the outside, it looked like every other one of Bakugou's notebooks. On the inside, it had drawings and stories he and his childhood best friend had scribbled inside when they were five--before Katsuki got his quirk and Midoriya became just a useless, pathetic Deku.
After tomorrow, Midoriya would spend at least six months on I-Island helping out Melissa Shield--the daughter of All Might's friend David. She was currently working on some new gear for the fledgling hero and needed him there to work out any kinks.
"I do that anyway, dumbass." Bakugou flopped back on his bed--making sure the notebook was far out of anyone's sight--and started thumbing through his magazine once more.
Kirishima and Kaminari glanced at one another and shrugged. They started to make their way to Bakugou's door. Kirishima looked around at the cardboard boxes and sighed. "It's not manly of me to say this, but you'll regret it tomorrow if you don't go," Kirishima waited until Kaminari was out of the room before he continued. "You won't see Midoriya for a long time and I think it's time you tell him how you really feel." This earned Kirishima a grunt from Bakugou.
Kirishima was the only one that knew, but Bakugou had been harboring romantic feelings toward Midoriya since they were kids. It was one of the reasons that Bakugou had bullied Midoriya so badly--he never wanted to accept that he was gay. Even more so, he knew that Midoriya could never be gay. He only saw Bakugou as a friend turned rival. He had better things to do. He was going to become the number one hero. And what Pro Hero was gay anyway? What would everyone else think of him when they found out? So Bakugou stuffed those feelings down.
Giving up on persuading him to go with them, Kirishima met Kaminari at the elevators. Kaminari was furiously typing away on his phone, probably talking to his girlfriend Jirou to let her know they would be there soon and Bakugou wouldn't be with them.
"No luck, huh?" Kaminari asked, finally glancing up from his phone and tucking it back in his pocket.
Kirishima shook his head and pressed the down button to the elevator. "We'll just have to have a good time without him."
Back in his room, Bakugou was sitting at the end of his bed flipping through the notebook now that he was alone. He stopped on one of the pages with a poorly drawn picture of himself and Midoriya wearing yellow capes. They had come up with each other's future hero names. Midoriya's was "Small Might" and Bakugou's was "Lord of Explodo Kills." Bakugou snorted at how idiotic they sounded and remembered how Midoriya said Bakugou's hero name sounded too scary and should be "Super Kacchan" or "Dynamight". Funny how Bakugou actually chose the latter to be his hero name.
He stared at the page for a while longer, thinking of how Midoriya was always there for him, even after how Bakugou treated him in middle school and even when Bakugou didn't want him to be. Midoriya and Bakugou always pushed each other to do their absolute best. It was Midoriya who made Bakugou learn that even he had weaknesses and to improve upon them. Would he still be his best when Midoriya went away for half a year? What if Midoriya fell in love with Melissa? The two spent a lot of time together when they were visiting I-Island for the expo.
He glanced at his alarm clock and saw that only an hour had passed after he was supposed to meet everyone at the karaoke bar. He closed the notebook and stood up--deciding that he would go after all.
