Sylvester

"i told you she's not leaving Rico!" ever since Nicole came back into our lives, Rico became a little more irritating. He no longer listened to me whenever she was around and that was not a good thing. He was questioning my authority and I didn't like it. " listen Sully, I get that you want to protect her, but the more you try to captivate her in this house, the more she will resent you" he said in a calm voice as he stepped closer to me.

"you know what Rico, I have no time for this, do what you want I'm going to work, you better be there on time." I replied and grabbed an apple before going back upstairs to my office. I sat down at my desk and took out my laptop to watch the live surveillance footage of the drive way. Nicole looked at Rico with joy and I couldn't help but think about the first time I showed her my office.

Flashback

"you work in here?!" she yelled in excitement as she opened the door and looked around.

"yes, this is my office, I'll be here most of the day. When my door is closed it means you can't disturb me, if it's opened then sure, but this room is off limits" I held her hand as she pulled me around as she took in the view.
It was an old fashioned styled office, dark brown wood decorated with a splash of grey paint in some areas. It wasn't the brightest place in the house but it was the way I liked it.

"this place is huge!"
"it's smaller than what I'm used to, but it'll do"
"wooooowwww"

She turned to look at me and placed her hands around my neck and smiled while my wrapped my arms around her neck. "your house is amazing" she said as our eyes met. "it could be ours" I replied and she laughed.

"what?"
"it could be ours, you and I, this whole place could be ours."
"you're insane Sully"

She stepped back from me but I pulled her back in making her arms land on my chest.

"let me go Sully"
"not until you agree to consider moving in with me"
"i will do no such thing"
"then Im not going to let you go"

I started to tickle her and she laughed uncontrollable. "okay okay, stop, I'll consider it!" she said and I let her go. She stepped away from me and smiled. "all ours huh?" she said and I smiled back.

"yes,all ours if you agree to move in with me"
"fine"

And that was the first time she came into my office. The office that I was currently sitting in, that had cyan colored paint and light brown wooden floors.

Nicole customized it herself and we spent a lot of time in it before everything. A lot of places in this house had changed due to her input, but it was time to change it all. I picked up my phone and called Rico.

"Yes boss?"
"I need you to call a few people and arrange for my office to go back to the way it was before Nicole ruined it"
"Are you sure Boss?"
It wasn't a question Rico. I'm telling you to call them."

I dropped the call and went back downstairs to grab a cup of coffee.

Nicole

Rico and I were in the car on the way to work when his phone rang. He picked it up and dropped it in less than 2 minutes." What was that about?" I asked him and he sighed before answering. "it was Sully, he wants me to call people so they can redecorate his office back to normal" he replied and I was kind of hurt.

"it's been two years, why only do it now?"
"I don't know, maybe since you're back now he has  become more aware of his surroundings"
"i thought he liked the way I decorated it."
" i guess not"

Not going to lie I was a little bit hurt, we decorated it together why would he only change it now that I'm back.

We got to my office and Rico sat outside in his car waiting for me to get back. "ahh Ms Hues you finally decided to show up to work" my boss said as he entered the building.

It's been a pretty hectic week and I've missed a few days of work but that couldn't have done much damage right. "I'm sorry it won't happen again I was caught up with some... family issues" I lied and had a shy smile on my face. He looked at me and then back down before standing up from his desk.

"you're fired"
"what, why?"
" i have one rule Ms Hues. I told you the day you joined us. Each person had three strikes and in the short period of time that you've been with us you lost all of them. So you have to leave"

I was in shock. This was my one chance at my dream job and I ruined it within a week. No one's going to want to hire me after this and it was all on Sylvester and the drama I was in.

I just wanted to get back to the city and have a normal fresh start but I couldn't even get that for a week. I stormed out of the building in anger and got into the car. "that was quick" Rico replied and I was not in the mood. "just drive Rico" I crossed my arms and kept my eyes straight on the road hoping that the tears wouldn't escape my eyes.

"wanna talk about it?"
"no."
"are you sure?"
"Rico."
"okay I'm sorry."

He placed his hand open on my thigh hoping for me to take it but I didn't. "whatever happened in there isn't your fault Nicole" he said keeping his eyes on the road and he was right. It wasn't my fault it was Sylvesters fault and I sure as hell was going to make him pay once this car stopped.

We got to the house and I stormed out screaming his name. "SYLVESTER YOU SON OF A *****!" I couldn't hold it in any longer. I walked upstairs and I couldn't find him until I heard voices coming from his office. I took off my heels and barged into the office.

There he was standing in a suit as usual but this time he wasn't alone. There was another man in the room sitting by his desk with a cigar in one hand and a glass of whiskey in the other. The man had a black fadora on that matched his suit. "I need to talk to you!" I yelled and pointed one of my shoes at him.

"you're not allowed to interrupt me when my door is closed. I'm in a meeting Nicole." Sylvester said with a harsh tone but I didn't mind it. I was already upset with him so whatever he did or say would have no effect on me. I threw my shoe at him and the man sitting moved away. "what the fuck Nicole?!" he dodged and instant regret filled my mind. He stood up and slammed his glass on the table.

" i said I need to talk to you!" I couldn't show him any fear, not now Atleast while I had the upper hand in the situation, I think. "well isn't she a feisty one, I thought all your workers weren't allowed in your house Sylvester" the man sitting in the chair said and I instantly felt insulted. I was not one of Sylvesters workers, whatever that meant, I was no one to him.

"they're not, Nicole isn't one of my worker she's no one and she's acting up" Sylvester replied to the man while he took slow steps towards me. "well then if she's no use to you, I'd gladly take her off your hands for a few nights" he looked me up and down slowly as if he was undressing me with his eyes.

I felt disgusted. I took my other shoe and I was about to throw it at the man but Sylvester grabbed my arm and stopped me before I could. "that's enough Nicole, outside now." Sylvester said in a harsh and cold voice making me feel uneasy. I pulled my arm away from him and we walked outside into the hallway.
