" Pearl, stop. Listen to me god damn it !" My uncle demands as he tries to catch up with me. Quickening my pace, I turn around another corner and make my way to the grand staircase of our old run down home.
"Pearl, you don't have to do this!" My uncle pleads.
As I reach the eighth stair down, I turn around and look up at him. " Uncle Xavier, look around us! Everything is falling apart! I have parents and a brother that despise me and wish to have me out of their life." Turning around, I make my way all the way to the bottom of the staircase and make way to the front door where my befriend, which also happens to be my personal guard, is standing.
" I don't despise you, Pearl." He shouts across to me as he runs down the stairs to get to me. My guard, Daniel, nods towards the big bay window that is positioned to the right of the front door. Fixing my gaze to the window I soon notice what my he was referring to. Outside was an normal jet black Range Rover with tinted windows. One of the windows rolls down and reveals my driver, he has chestnut brown hair and blocking his eyes are a pair of sunglasses. The driver catches me watching through the window and points to me then to the back seat of the car. Taking a deep breath, I take one last look at my uncle before replying to what he said before.
" I know, that's why I need to do this."
Daniel leaned forward and opened the door for me and allowed me to step out first before closing the door and accompanying me to the car. As Daniel reached forward to open the car door I noticed the driver looking me up and down in an unprofessional way. Slowly, I walk to the window on the driver's side door that's rolled down and lean to the driver's level.
"Do you like your job, sir?" I question the young man.
" Y- yes, Ma'am." The man stutters whilst adjusting his sunglasses. Standing back to my full height, I give the man a smile.
" Good, just one recommendation for you if you want to keep it." Opening the car door, I get inside and sit in the middle of the back row on the luxurious black leather seats. Resting each of my elbows on the two chairs in front of me, I lean forward to the side of the driver's ear.
" Keep your filthy little eyes to yourself. If I catch you looking at me again in any way that's not professional then I will make sure that Xavier Otis handles you." Once I finished whispering my threat I lean back in my seat and put on my seatbelt.
" Yes, Ma'am. Won't happen again." He reassures me. The driver then turns and looks towards my guard who has an unpleased look upon his face. The driver gestures to the seat next to him. "Daniel, you coming with?"
Daniel shakes his head then leans his arm on the top of car and looks down at my escort.
" No Jeremy, I'll meet the two of you there it's best if I stay a bit behind incase anything happens." Daniel looks over into the backseat to where I'm sat and gives Jeremy an cold look. "Don't let anything happen to her on the way there. I mean it, if she arrives at the destination with a single scratch on her body then you're a dead man."
" Yes, sir." My escort replies as he rolls up his window and puts his hand on the steering wheel before reversing out of the drive way and onto the road. I cautiously look over my shoulder and stare through the glass at the back of the car. Once I saw that Daniel was definitely following us I turned around and sat back in my seat.
"Ma'am?"
" Pearl, just call me Pearl. That's what everyone else does." Annoyingly I say.
" Well, Pearl. Behind my seat on the floor there is an black briefcase." He corrects himself. Following his instructions I am able to locate the case. Balancing it on my lap, I prop it open and take a look inside. Neatly laid out was a Beretta 92FS and an ALFA Combat and placed next to the guns was the bullets.
