KuraEvery part of my body ached. Even when I opened my eyes, it hurt. The bed was extremely soft and comfortable but I felt warm and sweaty under the blanket.
I slowly moved my fingers, my hands and my legs. I tried to at least sit up. I groaned at the pain I was feeling. I felt heavy and more exhausted than that night.
I carefully placed my feet to the floor before standing. And when I stood, I fell down at once. I groaned at the additional pain I was feeling.
I totally forgot about my injured foot.
I felt so tired that I remained lying down on the floor. Not a moment longer, the door bursts open. Nile stood in alarm as he saw my state on the floor.
What? Nile?
“Nile? Wait, where am I?” I asked as he quickly strode towards me.
Before answering my question, he scooped me in his arms and placed me back on the bed.
“You’re in my room.” He answered plainly.
“Did you redesign your room? I don’t remember your room being this big.” It’s almost triple the size of the room in his penthouse.
“No, not the penthouse. This is where I originally live.” He was covering me with the quilt but I stopped and shook my head. He sat on the bed instead as I sat against the headboard.
“Oh. Why did you bring me here?” My eyebrows knitted together. “Why aren’t you at work?”
I didn’t know the time but I’m sure as hell it was in the middle of the day. The sunlight from the huge windows was too strong. He was the type of man that’s always immersed in work. The type who’d wake up early and go to bed late because he’d rather focus on work.
“Wait, if this is your room, where did you sleep?”
“Tsk. Too many questions as soon as you wake up.”
“I’m serious, Nile. I passed out last night and I’m curious what happened after that.”
He was suddenly silent seemingly with no plan to answer me. I didn’t like it one bit.
“What? What happened? Tell me.” I urged with a frown.
“You passed out three nights ago. You only woke up now.”
My eyes widened. “What?!”
“Relax. It’s not like you had a coma. You were just in and out of consciousness. You were having a really high fever. We didn’t send you to the hospital as you wish so I let you get checked with our private doctor.”
I looked down. “Oh.” I peered at him through my eyelashes. “Thank you.”
“You know you got some explaining to do. This is your second time your life is put into danger.” Surprisingly, his voice didn't sound like he’s scolding me. He was soft spoken and I’m not used to him like this.
“I wasn’t exactly in danger.”
His calm look suddenly turned into a scowl. “You dare defend that bastard. He took you away from me!” He growled and I was caught by surprise.
I’ve never seen him like this before. He was beyond furious.
“Why am I here, Nile?” I asked instead.
I didn’t know what to say after that considering we weren’t on good terms the last time we met.
He closes his eyes and looks away. “You’re here because this is the place where he doesn’t dare come after you.” He then shifts his eyes back to me. He was glaring but it held a lot of emotions. “Now, tell me. Why did he take you?”
“I want to answer that when my friends are here.” I could see that he was dissatisfied with my answer. “I want to explain everything this time… where it all started.”
“Your friend told us everything.” I guess he meant Colton since he was the only one who I told the truth. I didn’t know telling him would become useful in the future. There was one good thing about this incident though. Colton and Nile were cooperating. “As much as I want to support your decision, you owe me this, Kura. You made me want to destroy this whole damn city looking for you.”
I suddenly felt guilty about what happened. All the more when I saw his concerned look for me. It’s not like it’s my fault the situation turned out like that. Even though I lost hope from the start, I was still able to plan my escape. And it was successful.
I stared at him for a while until I decided to let him know the truth.
“May I shower first?” I asked almost shyly. He nodded and instantly carried me in his arms which caught me by surprise. I wrapped my arms around his neck for support.
My heart was beating fast and I felt warm and giddy.
Shit.
This isn’t seriously happening.
He lets me sit on the edge of the tub as he starts peeling my clothes.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa.” I grabbed his wrist to stop him. “I… I can do it myself.”
I was fucking blushing and I didn’t know why I was acting this way. We had fucked and seen our naked bodies many times. Why the fuck am I feeling shy right now?
Thankfully, he acceded. He prepared the water in the tub and filled it with soap that smelled of lavender. When he was done, he realized that I was still on my clothes.
We stared at each other for a while before I mouthed to him, “Out.”
All of a sudden, he kneeled in front of me. “You act as if I’ve never seen your naked body before.” I rolled my eyes.
He showed me a faint smirk before grabbing the back of my neck and pulling me to him so he could kiss my forehead.
I was stunned. What the actual fuck! He’s arrogant, possessive, dominant, spoiled… but never sweet.
He then stands and starts to leave. “Take your time but I’m not going to lock the door.” He said while walking out.
“Whatever.” I muttered and started taking off my clothes.
I realized I was only wearing a huge white tshirt with only panties as my underwear. No bra. I don’t even want to ask who the hell changed me.
That jerk is fucking possessive.
