We walked towards them almost in a hurry. Belle was surprised to see him. I, on the other hand, held a slight fear on my surprise.

Of all the damn times he could possibly visit Quinn. It had to be near her wedding day.

“Jacob?” Belle chimed in as we both stood beside Quinn. Her tone held obvious surprise and curiosity but unlike me, she wasn’t frowning. She always meets people with a smile regardless if they did something wrong at us or not. But she didn’t know exactly what happened to Jacob and I.

“Finally, the three musketters.” He joked.

Belle watched back and forth between Quinn and him. She realized they didn’t have any grudge on each other ever since they broke up.

Quinn chuckled before explaining. “Jacob is having a short business trip back here. He came by and visited us.”

Bullshit.

“And I heard Quinn is getting married so I had to see the guy who had stolen her heart.” He sounded as if he was indeed happy for her.

“Is that so?” I muttered. That grabbed his attention and he stared at me for a while. That made it even more suspicious for me.

I know something is up. I know that there’s another reason why he’s here. My bet is he’s going to ruin Quinn’s wedding and steal her back.

Quinn’s secretary suddenly interrupted us and needed her attention.

“Sorry, I can’t walk you out. I need to get back to work.” Quinn said regretfully.

Jacob nodded in understanding. “I understand. Work matters the most.” He smiled at her before Quinn left with her secretary.

“I’mma get back to work, too. Hope you enjoy your stay here, Jacob. It’s nice to see you again.” Belle said chirpily.

“Thank you, Isabella. Have a stressful free day.”  He responded with a playful smile.

She rolled her eyes. “Ugh, I wish.” Which made Jacob chuckle.  “Come on, Kur. Stop spending so much free time.” She nodded at me.

“You go on ahead. I’ll walk him out.”

She shrugs. “Okay.” She then waves at him before leaving. “Bye, Jacob.”

We then started walking towards the elevator, pressing the down button. The door opened and there was no one inside. I pushed Jacob inside with force, grabbing his collar roughly.

“I think we know why you’re here, Mister Moore.”

His lips tilted upward. “And that is?”

“If you ever ruin her wedding…” I started my threat with gritted teeth.

“Relax. I’m not here for her. Quinn and I simply dated in the past. That’s it. I’m not so desperate for her affection. I really am just here for business.” His tone was calm and confident.

There was a small smirk on his face. I had a hard time believing him because of that look but I sure hope it’s true.

His hand was suddenly placed in my waist which made me jump in surprise, automatically removing my hands from his collar.

“Don’t touch me.” I warned, backing away from him.

“You haven’t changed a single bit, Kura.” I scowled when he gave me a charming smile.

“See you again, love.” The elevator dinged before opening. He stepped out of the elevator, walking out without turning back.

The elevator then closed.

“Maybe he really just visited. He’s on good terms with his ex and came to congratulate her.” Colton said as he bounced the basketball before shooting it in the hoop. The ball unfortunately didn’t go in and bounced back towards him.

I left to visit Colton just this morning. The traffic was pretty bad that I spent almost two hours on the road. He took the day off for me and invited me to play basketball at the court just outside his house.

“I don’t feel good about this, Colton. I just have this feeling that he’s here for something else.” He passed the ball to me. I secured it in my hands before bouncing it to the ground.

“Maybe he’s really here for something else but… with his illegal business.” I was still not convinced. He placed his hands on his hips as he watched my form. “If you’re this worried, Rose, maybe it’s time you tell them the truth. If something does happen, it’s going to be too late.”

I stopped bouncing the ball and shot the ball into the ring. It got in smoothly. Colton raised a brow at that.

“If I tell them the truth… it’s going to be a long drama for us.”

“Either that or something bad’s going to happen to either of you which I’m sure you don’t want that to happen.”

My phone suddenly rang from my bag cutting the atmosphere between us. I picked up the phone only to see Tyler calling.

“Yo.”

“Hey, Kura. Have you seen Quinn?” My heart skipped a beat. A foreboding feeling growing in my chest. “She wasn’t answering her phone when I called her. Belle said she’s not in her office.”

“What’s wrong?” Colton mouthed to me. He saw my concerned expression.

I am not only concerned, I suddenly have a growing fear.

I gulped. “No. I’m with Colton right now.”

“Oh, I see. Thanks, Kur. Her battery’s probably just dead.”

“No prob, Ty.” Putting the phone down.

“It’s her fiance. She’s not answering his calls. Belle didn’t see her either.” I nervously answered.

“I know what you’re thinking. I’m coming with you.” Colton stated with urgency. I nodded.

Jacob was no joke. He’s a big fish in an illegal ocean. I’m not going to act all selflessly and be the hero of this drama. If my suspicion is correct, then we need all the help we could get.

This was the time that I regretted selling my car. Though I love walking and became used to it, emergencies like this, relying on public vehicles is difficult.

The traffic was lesser when we reached Runner Studios. Before going straight to my office, I stopped at our lobby and tried calling Quinn’s number again. It’s still cannot be reached.

“What about calling him instead?” Colton suggested.

“I don’t have his number.” I rubbed my face with my hand with frustration and anxiety. “Fuck. I’m running out of options, Colton. I want to search the whole city if I could. Tyler must be worried sick.”

He placed his hands on my shoulder calming me down. “Clear your head. Stop thinking about unnecessary things. It won’t help solving our problem.”

I exhaled. “I know. I know. The past just kept haunting me. It’s not helping, I know but it’s squeezing my heart out. I’m so glad I told you about this. My head would burst just thinking about this alone.”

“I’m here, Rose. I’m always on your side, okay? Now, breathe and calm down. Let’s think together where to find her.”

Before I could even say anything, my phone vibrated. I opened the message.

‘Looking for her?’
