Fuck."Look, I'm sorry. She was getting on my nerves."
Way to go, Kura. You just made a barbecue of yourself. From the way she looked at me, she saw everything.
"Come have lunch with me, Kura." She turned towards the direction of the dining room.
My eyes widened, shocked at the sudden turn of events.
Did she just invite me to have lunch with her?
She noticed that I wasn't moving so she called me again. "Come, my dear. I am starving."
That was the signal that let me immediately follow her.
"I'm sorry if I was rude to your guest." I apologized, ashamed of my actions.
It was hard for me to eat with her cause I was still guilty for acting like I was the hostess of this house. What's more embarrassing is that she saw everything.
"She wasn't my guest. She was Nile's pest." I froze at her answer. She's the only one I know who's brutally blunt without any care what people think. She was simply harsh with words. "And no matter how many times I taunted her, she could not seem to get it. In any case, I should thank you for that little show there." Her cat eyes were filled with mischievousness.
I looked at her incredulously. "I thought you... will be close considering her family is doing business with you."
She snorted. "Every woman who's after my son will surely have her deathwish."
I stilled.
"Mother, what nonsense are you talking about?" Nile came up, now all changed with casual clothes.
He moved to sit beside me and kissed my temple before grabbing his tableware. Despite her previous statement, she didn't react with how his son was being affectionate towards me. She watched us as if it was only natural to see it.
It made me wonder why.
Still, despite her acting nonchalant towards us, the words she said were stuck to my mind like a broken record. It's starting to make me doubt my relationship with Nile again. It made me even forget the thought of that brat.
I was feeling dejected but I tried hard not to make it obvious to him. I don't want him to worry. Not to mention it's Quinn and Tyler's wedding tomorrow. I have to be in my best or else they would know. So I shook the negative feelings off.
On the bright side, Sara seemed to no longer be against my staying here. I'll earn her trust for now if I can. It'll be a long way for her and her husband's approval.
"Who was that woman exactly?" I asked as soon as we reached his room. I don't want it to slip from my mind again.
A lot of things happened one after another so I couldn't ask him before.
"I worked with his father and sometimes she helps with his business so we see each other sometimes." He answered calmly.
"Does she often come here then?" I spoke while crossing my arms, assessing him if he's telling the truth or not.
"Yes, if I'm not in my office. We don't have a relationship, Kura. She's the one who always came after me. You should know by now by the way I treated her. I mean I would've shown my concern for her when you're trying to break her arm." He showed a teasing smile which broke a giggle from me.
I guess it was already that obvious when he left without a care in the world. He left to change and went back to have lunch with us. If I were the girl, I would stop dreaming of having this man. I don't want to suffer in the future. It's painful when a man doesn't love you back, especially when you're crazy for him. I guess Christina was pitiful.
