“Are you crazy?!” I screamed at Nile.

Shaking off my state of shock, I rushed towards Nixon who was now wiping off the blood from his mouth. I wasn’t able to go to him when Nile pulled me back towards him.

“I was trying to keep an eye on you but hell, I can’t watch from afar knowing you’re with this man! Why the fuck are you with him?!” His veins popped out as he screamed at me. Nile Veselov is fucking furious. I think I might be starting to get scared of him now.

“W-we just talked.” Holy hell. I stuttered. “A-and what the hell are you doing? Let go of me.” I tried to pull myself away from him but he didn’t budge. His grip only tightened even more.

“Do. Not. Provoke. Me.” He warned through gritted teeth.

Tears started to pool from my eyes from the pain his grip had caused. I still tried hard to pull my arm out of his intense grip. “Nile, please.” His face softens when he notices my expression. His grip then loosens but still keeps his hand around my arm. “I was just talking to him, okay. Just calm down.”

I noticed Colton hurried towards us and went straight to Nixon, helping him get up. I heard him utter a curse that was barely audible.

He scowled. “Don’t make a fool out of me. Calm down?! You ran out- in front of my fucking face- knowing it’s dangerous outside. Why can’t you just listen to me and not cause an argument for once? Better yet, I will just fucking tie you myself and confine you in my room. I should’ve done that the moment you woke up. You being obedient is a fucking fairytale.”

“Let go of me, you possessive fucker!” His hold tightened again. It’s going to leave a mark for sure.

“Dude, let go of her.” Colton intervened. Nixon tried to separate him from me.

“Not another step.” He warned Nixon. “I gave you the chance to help us but that doesn’t mean you will interfere with our relationship.”

“What relationship?” I interjected. “You mean the fact that we’re just fuck buddies. Oh, I enjoyed our time together but that doesn’t mean you have to act like my possessive boyfriend.”

If Nile was furious a second ago, I don’t think I could define his mood right now… or his face. He was raging fire. Nixon on the other hand looked in pain. My best friend was in shock. His mouth was wide open and speechless.

All of the sudden, Nile pulled me towards him and carried me on his shoulder like a sack.

“Put me down, you lousy mother fucker! Put me down now!” I screamed. I was feeling dizzy when he was stomping towards his car while I was swinging back and forth from his back. The funny thing was Colton never really dares to help me when it comes to Nile. He’s a useless best friend at a time like this.

I already enunciated every profanities I could find in my vocabulary but he still didn’t put me down. There was a growing headache and I feel like I want to throw up. I hope I could vomit right off his annoying face.

He then dropped me down on the back seat of his car and closed the door. He went around to take a seat beside me. Turns out he brought a driver. Rich ass shit.

When he finally settled beside me, he pushed a button that would raise the partition so the driver could not hear nor see us. I was closing my eyes trying to shake off the nausea and dizziness.

“Why the hell are you with that man? Did you run away just to meet him? Are you trying to ask for shelter from him? Your ex of all people?!”

“Ugh.” I rolled my eyes. Apparently it worsened my dizziness. “What’s going on with that toxic mind of yours? You know what? I’m not going to say anything. I hope you go crazy overthinking that possessive jealousy shit of yours.”

He grunted. ”You’re a pain in the ass.”

“So are you! You might have taken me with you but hell you’re not going to sleep beside me tonight. Get your own fucking room. If not, I will sleep in your living room for everyone to see. Got that?” Nile scowled even more. His silence meant he had no choice, although unwillingly, he backed down.

“Kura.” He growled after the long silence. “What are you doing with that man? Why the fuck are you with him?” As I glanced at him, I saw his eyes almost begging for me but his pride was holding it back so it could not be seen on his entire face.

“I ended things with him… completely. I made it clear to him that I don’t want another chance for us. Happy?”

He cleared his throat as he fixed his ass on his seat. I scoffed inwardly noticing that he was probably embarrassed for being such a jerk knowing I was trying to eliminate his rival.

“You’re still not gonna sleep with me, Veselov.”

---

Surprisingly, Nile yielded last night on our sleeping arrangements. Although there was a lot of grumbling, he still slept in another room. Serves him right. Why can’t he just ask me normally and not yell or act possessive? Sigh. I know I have my own faults too for saying stuff like he’s just my fuck buddy but he was irritating the heck out of me.

Now, I feel guilty about it. Ugh, I will only apologize if he will as well. I mean he was the one who acted all caveman even carried me like a sack of potatoes. Just the thought of it makes me want to punch his pretty face. And there’s the problem with his mother. I have to stay here knowing she hates me.

I just woke up and a lot of thoughts are already clouding my mind. I might not be able to have a break.

I grabbed my phone on the night stand and dialled Quinn’s number.

“So you disappeared yesterday right after you appeared in my office.” Quinn answered uniquely.

“I know you already know the story so don’t remind me. Just get me out of this hellhole, Quinn. I hope Colton spoke to you the details.”

“Oh, your strange lover’s quarrel or your problem with his mom?”

“Will you stop being so sarcastic?” I retorted frustratedly.

“Kura, Sara is not that bad. He’s just protective of Nile. He’s her only son.”

“Look, I already understand that obvious fact but it’s awkward staying here. I don’t even want to go out right now in this bedroom. What if I meet her again? She wanted me to stay away from her son. Nile wants- no, needs me to stay here. I’m not against that idea, obviously this is the safest place for me.”

She sighs. “Hmmn. Sounds like a huge predicament for you. Why don’t you just ignore her, stay out of her sight? Sara usually goes in and out of the country. She always goes with Nicholai with his business trips.”

I groaned. “Honestly, I just wanna go out of town or out of this city to relax. I haven’t had that deserved vacation ever since the event.” I knew something was up when she was quiet. I knew this girl like the back of my hand. “What is it?”

“Tyler’s birthday is coming up so…” She drawled. “So we decided to take a trip before the wedding, you know. With everyone.”

My ears perked at the idea. “Really? When?”

“Kura-”

“No. I know what you’re gonna say. That I’m not allowed to come. We’ll just be discreet about it. And besides there’s many of us. Jacob won’t be careless if he didn’t want to be found.”

She sighs in defeat. “Fine. I’ll just bring a couple of bodyguards to watch us from afar. And that’s not up for negotiation alright. Either you will come with bodyguards or not.”

I grinned in excitement. “Yes, ma’am!”
