He wanted out. He was tired of seeing his quote- unquote "babysitter" hanging around with their old friend. Well at least that's what they referred to each other as.

Even though y/n and Suna called each other 'babe', 'love', or even 'darling'. Even when they kissed each other on the lips, nose, forehead, and even other places Kenma was ashamed he had witnessed. Even when they cuddle with each other on any house furniture that doesn't harm one another. Even after joking about how random people had thought they were dating. Even after all that, they still considered each other "really close friends".

It really frustrated him. It's like having tuberculosis and calling it "a minor cough". Or being pregnant and calling it "a living food baby".

But for some reason he found himself so bothered by it. But why? Why was he so concerned with what his ex was doing with their life? Why did he care for the titles his ex used to acknowledge themself as? Does him want y/n to call Suna their boyfriend?

Then he found the answer in his thoughts. He kept referring to them as "his ex". As much as he hated it, he was slowly falling back in love with them. Falling in love with the way they laughed at ones misfortune. Smiling when it rains saying they like it when the sky is sad because it makes them happy. And just the look on their face when their favorite person enters the room.

And Kenma wanted so badly to be that person. He wanted y/n to start rambling about their day to him, or give them a certain look when something happens, or just have an inside joke that makes even the quietest person snort. But he couldn't. The atmosphere of the house started to feel like one from the movies. The one where the "parents" worry more about each other, and the child is just there. Kenma was just there.

What was he doing? He has no idea. He had no idea what to do with his future. Whether that future be academics, relationships-wise, or even with himself. He thought of himself as someone who floated through life. Even though he was more like a lost person wandering thought streets, no idea with what's coming but just kept going.

But for the first time in a few weeks he knew where he was going. Away.
He now had an idea of what he wanted to do. Though he might not show it, he does care for y/n. But he also doesn't want to wear down his heart seeing him grow attached to someone who clearly is already happy without him.

So that's what had led him to this decision. He had wondered why he had never thought of running away before, but that was the past and there was nothing he could do. But so conveniently, y/n had come to him with a request.

"Can you go to the store to get a watermelon?" They asked. It even surprised Kenma himself. He had never seen himself so excited to go to the store. And even just a regular grocery store, and he even had to walk there. And yet, the light in his eyes could have blinded the blind.

He nodded before getting up to get dressed. As he stood there in front of his closet he questioned who he was getting dressed up for? It's not like he has the time to stop and flirt with someone in the middle of an escape. The goal was to escape and give his parents a good reason as to why he is not there. Maybe he could stay at Kuroo's. Though that would be a little too predictable on y/n's part.

He put on his hoodie and some sweatpants. He then stuffed every necessity that he would need into the pockets. His allowance money, some extra clothes, deodorant, the Nintendo, phone and charger, and a few snacks he had lying around his room.
He double checked right when y/n opened his door without knocking.

"Are you getting the watermelon or not? They asked frustrated. While Kenma's body may have flinched, his face remained as neutral as it could be.
