*Camille's POV*
My eyes widened when I saw him approaching me. The elevator door opened and I made a mad dash inside, repeatedly jamming my finger on the 'close door' button, but Zayn was too quick. Just as the doors started shutting he stuck his shoulder in between and prevented them from closing. Once inside, he leaned against the elevator wall and waited for the doors to close before speaking.
"I know you," he said quietly, turning to me. I looked at him out of the corner of my eye without turning my head and nodded.
"Um...yeah, I think I know you too. I-I'm really sorry about what happened," I murmured, desperately not wanting to face him.
"Did you know who I was before you kissed me?" he asked after a couple of awkward seconds.
"No, I didn't. Honestly," I said desperately, finally turning to face him properly. "I didn't realize it until I pulled away from you."
"Then why did you do it?" he wondered.
"My friend, Rita and I were talking about whether or not we would ever go up to a random person and just kiss them." I explained, scratching at the back of my neck and looking at my feet. "I said I would, but only if they were cute because that's all I would be able to judge them on, so when we saw your group of friends she dared me to, and I did it. And you weren't with anyone else from your sinGing group so I didn't recognize them, or you, or anything and I'm just really sorry!" I apologized. He didn't say anything for a few moments so I looked up and met his gaze. His eyes were trained on me and he had a loopy smile on his face.
"You think I'm cute?" he asked. I rolled my eyes and turned to face the door, a small smile playing onto my lips as well. Just then, the elevator opened and we stepped out.
"Out of everything I just said, you only caught that I thought you were cute?"
"Yes," he determined and I laughed.
"Well, I really hope you're not too mad at me."
"Of course not."
I breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank God." He smiled. "I still think you're cute, though."
"Am I cute enough that you'd be up for going and getting a coffee with me?" I'm almost positive my heart jumped out of my chest as he spoke. Was this guy (a guy that was basically a celebrity) really asking to take me out? I could barely comprehend it because it was such an absurd concept for me.
"Oh, u-um, sure," I stuttered stupidly. He tried not to smile but I caught a hint of it. "Um, when?"
"I was thinking like right now?" he chuckled. The offer took me a little by surprise but after considering it for a few moments, I decided it would be pretty fun. I nodded.
"Well, alright then," he said and gestured to the doors of the lobby. He walked beside me as we exited the building and I pulled my coat a little tighter around my body to keep the crisp winter air from running up my dress.
A thought popped into my head after a minute or so and I froze on the blacktop. "Wait. What about the party? And your friends?" I asked.
He shook his head. "Don't worry. They know that I took off after you. They kind of pushed me to do it, actually." He scratched at his neck and I giggled.
"Well maybe it's a good thing they did, who knows?" I smiled.
He reciprocated my smile and we set off walking down the street again to a shop called Now and Zen. I'd never been before but he said he came all the time. It was very warm and inviting with couches and books to read everywhere.
