Chapter 1:

NICOLE’S POV

I slowly stirred awake, the glare of sunshine blinding me through the open blinds. A figure was standing at the foot of my bed, their arms crossed, staring down at me. My head felt like it was about to explode as I forced myself to turn to my left, looking down at the little blue digital alarm clock on the nightstand. It was 6:45 am. Reality slowly came flooding back as I looked back over at the figure, slowly comprehending what was going on.

“The moment you’re out of this house I get to throw the biggest party of the year,” My younger sister smirked. Scarlet was sixteen and at that age, the only thing that ever mattered to her was popularity… and boys. It’s not like that changes as you grow up, but being two years older than her I suppose it’s my responsibility to pretend like I know what I’m talking about.

“What? No.” I mumbled as I sat up on my elbows. My eyes finally adjusted to the light and I could see she was wearing blue shorts and a grey tshirt… probably what she had slept in. Wait a minute…

"Hey those are my shorts.” I groaned. Why did I have to deal with this? It’s times like this where I wish I was an only child.

“Boo hoo. They look better on me anyway. My thighs are thinner.” She smirked and I grabbed the pillow nearest to me, throwing it at her.

“Leave,” I mumbled. Scarlet smirked again, walking over to the side of the bed.

“And if you care, yes I am having that party. And you can’t do anything about it.” She said mostly to herself, sitting down on the edge of the bed. I sat up, leaning against my headboard,

“I can tell mom and dad.” This caused her to smile even more, which kind of creeped me out a bit.

“You can… but you won’t. Not if you want me to cover for you. You told mom and dad you’re leaving today for a fashion internship at Seventeen. That’s funny because….you’re not. You told Seventeen you weren’t interested because you would rather go touring the world following your pop-star boyfriend from city to city. I’m sure mom would LOVE hearing that one.” Scarlet smirked as I sat there, staring at her. She was right. I’ve been dating Harry Styles for about five months now and things were going really well… except for the fact that my parents didn’t know. Neither did my friends… and neither did the rest of the world. The thought of that made me sick to my stomach. Scarlet could see my uneasiness.

“Listen Nicole. I get you. You like Harry. He’s sweet, talented, and really hot. But I just don’t want you getting hurt… with the whole Sienna thing and all.” She trailed off, looking down at me.  I couldn’t help but bury my head in a pillow. When Harry had told management that he wanted to be with me, they told him no. That a girl like me wouldn’t do anything for his career and I would only get in the way. Harry didn’t take any of it and continued to argue with them, so management had compromised. He could be with me as long as to the public he had a fake relationship with Sienna Swanson, probably the most gorgeous girl ever to exist. If that didn’t make a girl uneasy, I don’t know what did. Sienna was a model and was wanted by all of the hottest designers. Every guy had a poster of her in his room, half naked. Harry swore it would only be for publicity, but I couldn’t help but worry. She was absolutely stunning… and then there was me. I looked down at myself, mentally making a note not to eat ever again.  I glanced back over at Scarlet.

“Fine, I won’t tell. Just promise me you’ll cover. Please.” I asked, my voice desperate. She sighed, looking at me for a few moments before nodding.

“Of Course. Just be careful. Oh and check your phone.” She said with a soft smile before getting up and swiftly walking out of my door. I sighed softly before turning to my left and picking up the white iPhone laying on my nightstand. Two missed messages and one missed call. I checked the messages first. One was from Sarah, my best friend. The other one was from Harry. I couldn’t help but smile as I clicked read.

‘Hey babe. I left you a voicemail. Can’t wait to see you’. I quickly dialed my voicemail, and the moment I heard his voice, I felt that familiar calm feeling I get when I’m around him.

“Hey Nicole.  I can’t believe I get to steal you away for the next couple of weeks. I can’t wait to see you, I miss you so much. Management said they arranged transportation to the airport that should be there around seven fifteen. These next couple of weeks are going to be great. I’ll see you when you land. Miss you.” I felt a little bit of relief hearing him say that. Maybe Sienna really was nothing to him. Maybe he was into me. I stood up from my bed, quickly getting ready. I brushed my teeth, threw on a pair of sweats and zip up hoodie, and threw my hair in a bun. I had already been packed for days and this was it. The best summer of my life. I made my way down the stairs, Scarlet following after me. Before I managed to open the door, she caught me off guard, hugging me. Scarlet had never hugged me.

“Just be careful.” She whispered. I wished I could have cherished this moment forever but the car honked outside.

“Bye Scarlet.” I smiled as I opened the door, stepping outside. I made my way down the stairs, slowing down as I saw what waited in front of me. This had to be a joke. An older Hispanic woman stood in front of a housekeeping van, smiling.

“Hola seniorita. I was sent to pick up a Nicole Winters? I was told to relay a message from management. There has been slight change in plans. “ She said cheerily as she handed me an envelope. Inside was a letter that I recognized as Management’s stationary.

 Nicole,

Due to the uniqueness of the situation we currently face, we have to take extra precaution to make sure you’re relationship with Mr. Styles is not revealed to the public. With this in mind, the only way we know this will not occur is if you pretend to be part of the house keeping staff at each hotel. We will provide you with the uniforms specific to each different hotel and explain more to you when you land in New York. We booked you this mode of transportation with hopes that you’ll get a few tips on how to be in the housekeeping industry. Maria is an excellent housekeeper that has all of the qualities you need to be a BELIEVABLE employee. We look forward to seeing you in a couple of hours.

 Management.

First of all, no they're not looking forward to seeing me. According to them i'm the "issue". Second of all, You have got to be kidding me. They wanted me to travel the world being a maid? I glanced back at my house one more time, wondering if I was making the right decision. A few seconds passed before Maria clapped her hands together.

“Perfect! Why don’t you get in and I’ll explain to you everything you need to know.” She said full of perkiness as she got into the drivers seat. What did I just got myself into.
