Chapter 2:
NICOLE’S POV
The moment I stepped out of that van I couldn’t have been more grateful. Not only did it smell heavily of cleaning supplies, but Maria just wouldn’t shut up. She was sweet and everything, but I just wanted a little time to myself. Discussing the best methods to clean a toilet wanted to make me puke. The forty-five minute ride didn’t help the situation either. I smiled softly and waved as she drove away before picking up my bags and making my way into the airport.
By the time I had made it past security, I had about ten minutes to catch my plane and was sprinting through the airport. My gate was right ahead and I saw the attendant about to close the door.
“WAIT!” I screamed…well, more like shrieked. That definitely caught her attention and she smiled awkwardly at me, a nervous smile spread across her lips. She scanned my boarding pass and I let out a sigh of relief as I walked onto my plane. Management had booked me a seat in coach next to the window, which I was thankful for. I quickly slipped into my seat as the boring safety video started to play. By boring I really meant boring because the next thing I knew I was dozing off as the plane took off.
------------
I felt something gently nudge my shoulder and I quickly tensed, sitting up. The flight attendant had a soft smile across her lips as she stood in front of me,
“Ma’am, we’re in New York. “ Those simple few words caused my stomach to do a thousand summersaults. We’re in New York… which is where Harry is. I felt myself grinning like an idiot, which must have looked strange to her because she gave me the weirdest look. I ignored it and grabbed my carry on- practically running off of the plane and into the airport.
The moment I walked out of the gate I saw him. Harry was standing about twenty feet away from me. My stomach had so many butterflies I had to make sure it wasn’t going to fly away. I paused, staring for a few moments as I observed the scene around him. He was standing with Niall and Louis and the three of them were being mobbed by fans and paparazzi. Niall was the first one to notice me and grinned, waving, which immediately caused a member of management to whisper something angrily into his ear. He frowned slightly, giving me an apologetic look as he turned back to the boys.
I had almost forgotten: to the boys, I don’t exist. They technically don’t know me. I tried to hide it, but anybody who passed by saw the disappointed look across my face. If Harry was any other guy I’d be able to run up to him and kiss him passionately, wrapping my legs around his waist. But No. Harry’s dating Sienna in the public eye.
I obviously must have been ruining the moment because I could see a member of management walking towards me. Joy.
“Hello Nicole. I’m John. I don’t think it’s the smartest idea for you to be here…you know, in public.” He trailed off, looking at me. This guy was insane. I wasn’t even near the boys. I was standing twenty feet away and I had just gotten off a plane. I knew my boundaries.
“And why is that?” I snapped, obviously a bit harsher than I had originally intended. The guy looked irritated, looking down at his blackberry and quickly typing a message as he spoke.
“We have a car ready for you. Get your luggage and it’ll drive you to the hotel. Rick will meet you by the employee entrance,” John said as he walked away, deciding the conversation was over. I sighed sadly as I looked back over at Harry. He was smiling with some gorgeous blonde girl for a picture. The camera flashed and Harry turned around, John walking up to him. John whispered something into his ear and Harry finally turned his head, spotting me. We locked eyes for an instant before he turned around to laugh at something funny the blonde girl said. I was speechless. We hadn’t seen each other in weeks and he doesn’t even bother to smile… wave. Show any type of emotion to his GIRLFRIEND. Nothing.
I could feel tears welling up in my eyes as I turned around to walk to the baggage claim. I walked with my head down, too humiliated to look anybody in the eyes. The sooner I got out of there, the better. I had dropped my entire life, flown to a new city, and lied to my parents to be here with him. And he looked at me as if I was just another fan. Just another girl here to take a picture with him and leave. Like he didn’t even know me.
