Ashwin wakes up to the sound of birds chirping and occasional car honks from the opening of the balcony area. Sunlight shines down and gives a nice cozy environment in the living room. He stretches his kinks out of his body as he sits up, the blanket Ahana covered him up the night before, slipping off and tumbling to the floor. He grabs his phone from the coffee table and sees its still half past six in the morning, and the mild scent of jasmine incense is still wafting through the condominium space. He folds the blanket up and walks over to the entrance of the prayer room as he sees Ahana there, sat in a yoga post and meditating, the soothing music of the 'Suprabatham' echoing through. He smiles before walking off to the guest bathroom and goes to refresh himself for the day.

An hour later, he walks out of the room, toweling off his wet hair and sees Ahana walking to and fro in her kitchen, the hood switched on and the pan sizzling away. "Enna madam seiringe?" he asks as he drapes the towel over the opposite chair of the kitchen island. "Breakfast" she replies quickly and continues to work "Enna athiseyama? Usually nee order panriviye, inniki enna?" he asks curiously and Ahana huffs "Oru breakfast seiruthu thappa?" "Eh, che, athuku ille da, naa enna ketena usual ah ne breakfast order thaane panuve, atha keten. If you don't want to tell, then it's okay" he says with a shrug and walks over to retrieve his phone from the coffee table and walk back to the kitchen. Ahana serves the second plate with the last batch of pancakes and switches off the stove, turning back and leaning against it. "Thank you" Ahana starts after a long silence and Ashwin looks up, one of his eyebrows raised in a questioning look "Ethuku thanks?" "Nethu night was literally my last thread of sanity, and nee nalla neruthule thaan vanthe, illati.." Ahana hangs the unsaid words in the air around them but Ashwin understands.

"Un thanks kondu poiyi kupe le podu" Ashwin snarks and Ahana looks up immediately to see him smirking "Nambe kule epo thanks and sorry solirukum, nambe apidiya palaganum? I'm your best friend, ithu koode naa panlena, enna maare oru muttal le inthe ulagathile paaka mudiyathu." he says and the both of them laugh to the comment. "Cheri, naa onnu kekenum nu irunthe, Sivaangi epdi irukka?" she asks suddenly and Ashwin coughs, his cheeks reddening as he looks up at her again, this time a sly smile on her face "Un kitte ava number ille? Neeye poi kelu" he tells to divert the question but Ahana clicks her tongue "Enna tapikila nu pathiya? No, no, never, naa unkitte ketuthu ku mothele bathil sollu, epdi irukka?" "Naala than irukka" he mumbles and Ahana comes closer and places both of the plates on the table and walks off to the coffee machine to prep the coffee "I don't know what's stopping you" Ahana continues and Ashwin hums asking her what "Yen nee onnu ava kitte sollule nu" and Ashwin sighs "Naange onnum early stage le irrukum career leeyum seri, life leeyum seri, and ipo poiyi naa avale virumburenu sonna, don't you think it will disturb her?" he says as he locks his phone and keeps it aside.

Ahana hums as she sits on the other side, placing the cup of coffee in front of him "But don't take too long da, cause aveluke ipo neereya offers varum, boys kite irunthu, cause you saw her glow up right? Yaar yaar munthi ellam ave oru tomboy nu solli friend ah matum pathevungale, ipo paathune, avale girlfriend illena oru crush ah paapange. But athukunu naa ave athelam othupa nu sollele, I know about her and her loyalty to you, I'm just scared of the boys" she says and Ashwin merely hums. "Cheri, nee epo settle down panne pore?" Ashwin asks her and Ahana sighs "You saw what happened to my last two right? Vanthuchi apidiye poiruchi. So, ipothiki idea ille" Ahana shrugs and silence takes over the kitchen as the duo enjoy their breakfast peacefully.

Amma - Pa, nee free ah? Call panlama?

Ashwin's phone pings and he sees a text from his mother. "Enna amma text panirukange?" he says out aloud and calls her, excusing himself to go to the balcony and talk. He stands at the balcony and after a couple of rings, his mother picks up the call "Ah, sollu ma. Ethavuthu prechanaiya?" he asks seriously "Eh, apdi ella onnum ille, unnode akka ponnu ku vaisu vanthuruchi da-" "Aishu vayasuku vanthutala? Ipo thaane avaluku panandu vayasu-" "Unge akkave apo than vayasuku vantha. Cheri, ennena, ipo thaane lockdown ella mudinjichi, unnale inge vara mudiyuma? Inthe varam Saturday naange function vechirikum-" "Vaare mudiyuma va? Ma, naa moore mama thaane, naa nalike vaare, enneku ipothiki vere commitments ille, so naalike afternoon eh naa kelimbi vaare" he says excitedly and his mother agrees on the other end. He then looks back at Ahana whose scrolling through her phone, as she stirs her coffee idly "Ma, Ahana veyum kutitu vaarene" he says and his mom clicks her tongue "Eh, ithe elllam keta kopduve, ava nambe veetu ponnu da, nee avale kuutitu varale na thaan unneku irukku" "Ma, naa than unge son nuh apo apo maranthuringe" he grumbles and his mom laughs on the other side. The mother and son chit chat a little bit longer before ending the call and Ashwin enters the kitchen to see Ahana washing the plates and mugs.

"Enna achi? Yen amma kuptange?" she asks absent-mindedly as she arranges the plates in the dryer "Aishu ku vaysu vanthurucha" he says and Ahana jerks up and looks at him surprised "Vaysu vanthurucha? Wow, ennekum athe vayasule than vanthuchi but avelode body size paakumbothe konjum doubt ah than irunthuchi, but maybe gene apdi nu neneikiren. Cheri, epo ooru ku kelembure?" she asks as she turns back to continue her work. "Epo poorum, as in both of us" "Eh, enna valayaduriya? Ennale mudiyathu, vele neraiya-" "Amma's orders" Ashwin rebukes and smirks when that one sentence can bring her entire line of excuses to a fullstop. Ahana sighs before shaking her head and then nods. "Unne epdi off paananum nu enneku naala teriyum." Ashwin teases and Ahana mock glares at him "Cheri, kelembu, poitu Aishu ke seeru jama ellam vangenum, neeyum vaa, unne veliye kootitu ponne maare irukkum at the same time neeyum ethachu vangela" he says and she nods in agreement before walking off to her room and locking the door. Ashwin then goes and makes himself comfortable on the living room couch and switches on the television to see last night's Manchester United's game highlights. He's almost at the half time when his phone pings twice and he sees one from his mom and one from Sivaangi.

He opens Sivaangi's text first and his lips curve into a shy smile.

Ashwin huffs silently and then opens his mom's message and immediately groans. "Eh, enna achi?" Ahana comes and stands beside the couch, already in her pale pink kurti and black skinny jeans, her sling bag on her right shoulder. "Amma enna Shana ve naaliki apdiye ethike sonnage" "Shana va? Whose that?" "Ennode mama ode tangachi, periye imse, apdiye pinnale suthikitu irukum, che" he grumbles as he sends a thumbs up emoji back to her. "Apro yen amma kite okay nu sonne?" "Ave yenkitte than comfortable ah irupala travel panruthuku so enkudaiye varala" he snarks and switches off the television and grabs his car keys, wallet and sunglasses. Ahana giggles and rolls her eyes "Ava enna avalo mosamma? Nee ipdi drama panikitu irukke" she says as she locks the front door and the both of them cover themselves before walking towards his car. "You don't even know the half of it" he mutters as he enters his car and starts the engines.
