Ahana squeezes Ashwin's hands on last time before standing up and goes to his vanity and sees the 'thaali ' visible on her night clothes, the one she wore after her morning shower before wanting to head down for a cup of coffee. She takes the yellow string in her gentle hands and lightly caresses it, a sad smile on her face before stuffing it into her t-shirt. "Hey" Ashwin comes closer and wraps and arm around her shoulder while the other hand he gently rubs her left arm "We'll figure it out, don't worry" he says and Ahana hums before she turns around to him "Cheri, nambe ipdiye irunthumna time aiyirum, naa poitu saree kaatren, Aishu ode function innum konjum nereethele start aiyirum" she says before walking off to her room. She's on her way to her room when she hears whispering which sounds like a fight and she halts her steps. When the whispers become louder, her curiosity piqued she tip-toes to the source and then sees Shana bent over her phone as she tries to whisper-scream at the other person on the phone. She slowly nears her when she overhears the tail end of the argument. "- ei, ennaku yenggadi teriyum Ahana kuruke varuvanu- hello excuse me, naa unkite vele kudutha nee teripiyum en kiteye vele kudukiriya- aama naa guard vele seiruthukuthan unkite kaasu kuduthu nadike sonne- che, ava mattum varame irunthuruntha, naa ava yedethule irunthurupen-" and Ahana clears her throat, her anger in her boiling when she hears Shana was behind the whole drama, and also behind ruining both hers and Ashwin's love life.
Shana curses before she abruptly cuts the call and slowly turns back before Ahana slaps her, hard. Shana looks at her with wide eyes before Ahana raises her hand again, before she huffs bitterly "Naa unneku rendu choice tharen, onnu ingge family munuku unnode thappe othukutu, inthe veete vitu veliye poiru, ille un manathe neeye kapathkinumna ipove ipdiye yethavuthu karanethe sollitu apdiye thirumbi paakame odiru" Ahana warns as she glares at her. "Ille naa teriyama than kekuren, nee padiche ponnu thane? Apro yendi ipdi cheap ah nadanthukure? huh? Nee ipdi senja? Ashwin unne santhosama thaali ye kaatitu apdiye siriche mungama iruppana? Nee panne thappu naale, ipo enge rendu perode valkiye oru big question mark leh nikuthu" Ahana says and Shana bends her head in shame. "Nee yennathan ipdi senjalum, nee oru ponnu and I don't want to be that lady who gets satisfaction seeing another female lose her dignity, athunaale than solre, onnu thapa othukutu poiru ille unneku un maanam perusa teriyuthuna, ipove ethavuthu soliitu kelembiru, because now or later the secret will come out and if they know it's you and athe senjum nee thairiyuma inthe veetle irunthuruke nu, I'm telling you, they will humilate you. Your choice" Ahana advises before Shana mumbles "Naa ipdiye poiren" and Ahana hums before giving way for her to walk off.
Ahana sighs before she walks off to her room when she stumbles on Ashwin, already in his kurta suit and is looking at her with a raised eyebrow "Innum kelembeya?" he asks and Ahana shakes her head "Naa unkite onnu sollunum, aana I'll tell you later" she says before she walks past him and goes into her room, locking the door. She changes into the saree Ashwin gifted for her when she got her first Emmy's Award three years ago. Ahana pins the pallu on her shoulder and then decides to just blow dry her hair since the weather isn't that hot and it will be easier for her to just run upstairs and tie her hair if it's making her uncomfortable. She finishes her makeup and then goes to reach her black bindi when she stops thinking that now she has to put a red one since she's 'married' to Ashwin and clicks her tongue when she realises she has none. She shrugs before checking her reflection one last time, making sure to hide her 'thalli ' inside her saree blouse before going out of her room. She's shocked when she sees the house almost decorated with real and fake flowers, that too in less then three hours as she walks over to the viewing area where she can overlook the living room and sees most of the guests are already there, chatting and laughing among each other.
"Oi" someone taps on her shoulder and she turns her head slightly to see that its Ashwin, his hair done. "Mmm, yenna da?" "You sure you're okay? You seem uncomfo-" "It's not that, I'm just....just processing stuff is all, like how my life changed in the morning. It's not like I woke up to be married today" she says and tries to leave out the snark, not wanting to hurt him. Ashwin sighs "You do know that I'm sorr-" "You're sorry I know. It's...ugh" Ahana cuts herself off before dragging him to her room again and locking the door. "Ei, ena da?-" Ahana cuts him off by plastering herself on him, her head on his shoulder, face facing the door and her arms around his trim waist, tight and secure. Ashwin after a few minutes wraps his arms around her, resting the side of his head on hers and hums quietly "Enna achi ma?" "Terle, I'm just feeling like we're falling apart-" "We're not, trust me, I'm just a little distracted by all this ya know, I didn't wake up to get married either" he says as he lifts one of his hands and strokes her hair. "We okay?" "Definately da, we're more than okay" and then lifts his head and rests his lips on her head, a small peck on it before leaning away 'Cheri va da, povum illati yen akka vanthu theedum" he says as Ahana unclasps her hand and then straightens her hair before her brain clicks "Ashwin, uh, naa mothe yenna solle vanthena-" "Shana is the reason thaane?" "How do you know?" "She was hurryingly packing and leaving giving nonsense reasons for it before I stopped her and demanded an answer, the actual one and she told me everything, even your slap" he says with a smirk and Ahana huffs "You're not mad?" "Mad? For what? That too at you?" "I slapped your sister's sister-in-law-" "If you asked me you're more my family than she ever was, moreover she needed that slap earlier, I would have done it if you didn't, so kavale padathe and come down soon" he says before walking out and down to the leaving room.
Ahana steps out of the room and goes down, greeting everyone who passes by her and then reaches the living room before Ashwin's mom sees her, her eyes lighting up as she does "Va ma, va ma" she says as she drags her hand and brings her to the group of ladies that she was previously talking to "Iva than naa sonne Ahana" she introduces her and Ahana bends a little in greeting them "Alaga irruka, paravale, ungge maggan ivalo varushama paata kashtathuku ipdi oru alagana pondatti kadachiruka" one of the lady praises and Ahana panics "Amma yenna solrange?" she asks laughing awkwardly and Ashwin's mom looks at her amused "Yen ma, neethane inthe veetuku varapore marumage, athunaalathan naa ivunge kitte introduce panni veche. I'm proud to say that you're this family's daughter-in-law" she says and then goes back to talking to the group of ladies. Anxiety creeps up her as she looks around her and sees most of the youngsters and teenagers there whispering and looking at her while typing something on their phone. Her breaths come in short pants and she starts sweating, the whispers increase in volume as she stands there, at that moment, the string around her neck ever prominent, rubbing against her delicate skin. Her eyes scan around the place finding for Ashwin but he's nowhere to be found and that does no good to her anxiety. She then smiles politely to Ashwin's mom and the ladies before she walks off, her steps increasing in speed as she walks all the way to the back door, through it, through the field behind the house, stopping when she reaches a small hut at the back.
Ahana grabs the railing of the hut and tightens her grip as tears flow through her eyes, her mouth opened in a silent scream as she sits down, her legs giving up and she curls, curls as tight as she can, uncaring that it'll dirty her saree and her makeup and let's go of her emotions. She repeats the words "Please God, don't let Sebastian see it, he'll be broken" like a prayer chant, placing her hand together and chanting the words, the words jumbling up as she picks up the speed and her anxiety is shooting up. She's praying to all Gods out there, the ones she believes and the ones that she don't when she hears her phone ping, now only remembering that she's been having her phone with her all along, and sees a text from Sebastian. Her heartbeat hammers against her ribcage as she slowly picks up her phone and unlocks it, tapping the message button on her phone and reads the message and hugging it close, thanking each and every being, God out there for sending an angel like him.
