Ashwin wakes up to a constant banging on his door. He rubs his eyes and sees it's still way too early for people to be barging into his room so he tries to go back to sleep but the banging on the door doesn't stop, neither does the voice that's repeatedly calling his name from the other side. He groans and sits up, running his fingers through his hair before walking up to the door and opening it, only to see at least half of his family there, worry clearly evident in their faces. "Enna ma, yen inthe nerathule ipdi door eh thatti kitu irukinge" he asks and his mother just stares at him "Maa....enna achi?" he asks again "Unmaiya?" "Enna unimaiya maa?" he asks but his mother doesn't reply him, she just grabs his arms and drags him away "Maa enna maa, yenge iluthutu poringge?" he asks again but his mother keeps mum as she drags him to the living room area. He wants to ask again but stops when he sees a woman there, pregnant with a kid, no more than five years old, in her hand, staring at him with red eyes. "Maa yaaru maa ithu?" he asks and his mom whips her head to look at him "Unneku ivala yaaru nu teriyathu?" she asks and Ashwin is taken aback before he shakes his head vehemently. "Nee sollu, enkite enna sonniyo apdiye ivan kitte sollu" his mother orders the lady and the lady nods before looking at him.
"Enna marathutinggala?" the lady asks and Ashwin steps back a little "Neenge yaarunu terinja thanne maraka mudiyum, yaaru ningge?" "Ashwin! Naathan Kayal! Unnode girlfriend!" the lady says and Ashwin rears back, shocked "Girlfriend ah? Eppole irunthu? I don't even know you lady!" "Poi sollathingge, ithu nambelode payan, tho ithu nambelukku porakapore pullangge, sathiyama sollunge unggelukku naa yaarunu teriyathu?" "No! I don't have a girlfriend, neither would I do this before I get married to a girl! What are you blabbering?" he shouts and the lady cries again, the boy in her hand crying too "Yengge, naa oru chinna sande potuthukku ipdiya panuvingge, veetu vitu poitu ipo naa yaarene teriyathe maari nadikiringgele-" "Naa yan nadikinum? Enakku unmailiye nee yaarunu teriyathu! And naa apdi paata paiyan kediyathu! Maa, naa en mele sathiyama solre ennakum ithukkum samantham illenu" he pleads to his mom but his mom still stares at him "Cheri, apo uneekum inthe ponnukum samantham illele, apo inthe ponnu kaluthule thaali ye kaatu-" "Ma! Enna ma pesuringge?!-" "Ava varambothu, nambe paakuthu vitu karanvungge ellam paathutange, ipo nambe ivale ipdiye anupunuma nambele pathi avunge yenna pesuvange-" "Athukunu?! Don't I get a say in this?!-" "Ape neeye sollu ivale yenna panlanu" his mom says and he keeps quiet. "Terithule, ipo ivale veliye anupavum mudiyathu, anupunuma she'll go to the police and complain and unnode maanam than povum" his mom says and Ashwin sighs, his headache roaring back as he paces, thinking of a way to solve this.
"Ennaku vere vali terile pa" his dad says and Ashwin looks at him betrayed "Paa-" "Ille Ashwin, nambe inthe visiyathe ingge nambe veetukuliye mudivechathan nambelukku safe and mariyathe, nambe inthe ponne veetu vitu veliye anupi, ava poi police station le complain panni, vennapa, athu ino periye avamanethule poi mudinjirum, you're just starting your career" his father advises as his mother grabs his hand and the girl's hand and drags them to the prayer room "Ei Kala ma, poitu yennode room le seeru jama vechirupen athule oru plastic le inthe manjal um kairum vechirupen paaru, eduthu va" his mom orders the maid of the house as she makes him stand, face to face with the unknown lady. "Maa-" he tries but his mom doesn't listen to him as she's ordering everyone in the family, the girl in front of him just standing there, bent down as if in shame. "Maa-" he tries again but she never does turn his side before he bursts out 'Maa ennaku erkaneve oru girlfriend irukku ma!" he blurts out and everyone freezes, his mom slowly turning towards him. "Ennada sonne?" "Ennange solringe? Nambe pullainge valkeye konjum aachum yosichingala?" the girl infront of him weeps but his mom ignores her "Yaaruda athu" his mom asks and Ashwin freezes as he thinks of a way, any way, someone in his mind, but his mother and that lady never stops asking, backing him up towards the wall. "Solra yaaru athu?" his dad asks but he still couldn't give an answer when Ahana walks past the prayer room "Ahana!" he blurts out again and his mom's eyes widen at the same time Ahana stops from where she was about to go and looks back at him.
