Seventeen days had passed since Jake's lunch date from hell and Tom having to move locations because of COVID-19. People on the streets were beginning to wear masks, and began keeping their distance from other beings. It was getting bad.
"We have an announcement!" The director of Chaos Walking said. "Due to the current circumstances surrounding Covid, we will be taking a break from filming until further notice."
A few murmurs came from the crowd of cast members, producers, editors, and costume designers. Everyone was thrown off guard.
"I have had a wonderful time working with each of you, and I hope to see you soon." He ended.
Everyone nodded their heads, agreeing to what he had said. The cast and crew began putting away their gear, and prepared to go home until further notice.
"Called it." Daisy whispered to Tom.
"How long before you think we can start filming again?" He asked.
"Not sure. It might take a while since Corona's still spreading like wildfire."
Nick who was eavesdropping on their conversation laughed to himself. "All I know is, I'm going to be sleeping these next few weeks." He stretched and yawned.
Daisy rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. "When are you not tired?"
"It's cause I'm around your annoying ass all day. You exhaust me." He joked.
Daisy playfully punched him in the arm. "Call me an ass again."
"I wouldn't mate." Tom said. "She hits hard."
"Damn right I do." She said, laughing a little bit.
Everyone went separate ways, and Tom went to his trailer to pack up his things. He looked around his room and sighed. He really liked shooting this movie, he got to feel like a badass. Not to mention he loved working with Daisy, Nick, and the rest of the crew.
While he was pulling his clothes out of his closet, Daisy snuck in on him again. She tapped him on the shoulder, making him drop his shirt on the floor. He bent down to pick it up, and hit his head on the side table that was beside the closet door.
"Fuck!" He yelped.
Daisy was laughing so hard that her face was turning a bright red. Her hands were on her stomach and she fell back onto the couch. "Shit." She said, sitting up straight. "That's the hardest I've laughed in months."
Tom put his shirt in his bag, rubbing the sore spot on the back of his head. "Glad I could be you're personal jester."
Daisy exhaled, gathering herself. "I'm gonna miss you, you British freak."
Tom let out a small chuckle. "And I'm going to miss you, you Star Wars lad."
"My burn was better." She said.
He shrugged playfully.
"By the way, did you see the news about Jake?"
Tom's eyes widened, forgetting that everyone in the world knew about this scandal. "Y-yeah, I did."
"So are you guys still together or?"
He was taken aback by how nosey she was being. Then again, this is Daisy we're talking about, and she truly gives zero fucks. "Mhm." He replied.
"Sorry," she apologized, "I shouldn't be in your business."
He rubbed the back of his neck. "Eh it's fine, we're just really private with what goes on in our relationship."
She nodded. "Got it." She leaned back onto his couch, and turned her head to him. "Is the sex good?"
"Daisy!" He said, a tad bit irritated.
"Oh come on. I've heard the rumors that he's good in bed. So is he?"
Tom smiled, looking down at his shoes. He gave a slight nod, satisfying Daisy's curiosity. She smirked, and stood up off the couch. "Alright, I'll get out of your hair." She hugged him. "See you soon, Tom."
"Aren't you coming back to the hotel to get your stuff?"
She shook her head. "I had my assistant pick it up for me. Nick did the same too."
"Maybe I should've done that." Tom said, thinking about how he was going to have to pack up all his items again. "But I'll see you soon as well."
When she left, he turned on his phone. The whole Jake discussion reminded him to tell him that shooting for Chaos Walking was temporarily terminated.
Jake, who was currently on set filming hadn't gotten any news about production shutting down yet— even though New York was rampant with Covid. Tom called him while he was filming a scene, meaning he didn't pick up since he'd left his phone in his trailer.
He huffed, and decided to continue gathering his belongings. He closed the bathroom and closet door, and organized everything in the trailer. He turned out the lights, and locked the door.
He drove himself to the hotel, and waisted no time grabbing his things. He was ready to go home and enjoy his time off work. As he was putting everything into the trunk of his car, Jake called him back. He hopped in the drivers seat, and connected his phone to the Bluetooth speaker.
"Hello?" Tom said, backing up and checking his rear view mirror.
"Why'd you call? Aren't you supposed to be at work right now?" Jake questioned.
"That's the thing. Apparently corona is getting out of hand, so we stopped productions today."
Jake was stunned. He honestly couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Well that's a first. How long before you start back up again?"
"Don't know." He sighed. "I do know that I'll be sleeping by myself again."
"Make Tessa sleep with you."
"That's not the same."
Tom heard people arguing on the other line of the phone. It was faint at first, but gradually grew louder. "Who is that babe?"
"I can't tell. I'll call you back in a second."
"Wait-" the call hung up. Tom groaned, wanting to know what was happening. He pulled into their driveway and parked the car. He began unloading his bags into the apartment.
Tessa was waiting for him when he unlocked the door. Her grey tail wagged back and forth, excited to see him. Tom gave her the smallest bit of attention, and then continued to unpack his stuff for what felt like the millionth time today.
He was putting away his last few things when Jake called again. He picked up immediately, pissed that he hung up on him like that. "You could have just put me on mute instead of hanging up."
"Sorry, there was too much going on and I couldn't focus on two things at once." His mood changed. "But I have some news."
"What?"
"You won't be sleeping alone for the next few weeks."
