Tom sat on the living room couch, holding his guitar in his lap. He had been practicing all throughout quarantine, trying to learn how to play. Playing the guitar was oddly calming, and it helped get his mind off of everything.
His fingers plucked a few strings, creating a gentle melody. He had only learned about four songs so far, but was getting better everyday. He pushed his hair back that kept falling in his face, he really needed a haircut. He continued to play until his fingers were raw. He huffed and laid it down beside him. He looked out the glass patio door, watching the blue waves of the pool twinkle in the sunlight.
He picked up his phone, checking for new updates. Cherry premiered over a week ago, and he was getting so much positive feedback that he could burst into a flame of joy. He smiled as he went through the reviews on the movie.
Jake came into the living room, eating a piece of pizza. "What are you smiling at?" He said, a hint of wonder in his voice.
He looked up from his phone. "Just reading what everyone's saying about this movie. They seem to love it." He softly breathed out, still grinning.
"How could they not? Your ass is literally in it."
Tom threw one of the couch pillows at him. He dodged it, but dropped his pizza. "Fuck." He groaned. "You suck sometimes, you know that right?"
Tom leered. "Yep."
Jake bent down and picked up his pizza. "So what do you want to do today?" He threw it away in the trash.
"How about we go swimming?" He looked out the patio door again. "It's nice out."
They both walked into the bedroom, digging through drawers for swimming trunks. Tom decided to wear light green bottoms, while Jake went with plain black ones.
"You look good in those." He said, staring at Tom's tan skin. He looked him up and down, admiring his abs and strong arms.
"Thanks." He replied. "Do you have any sunscreen?"
"Yeah but we should probably just wait. It'll come off in the pool."
Jake opened the patio door, letting Tom come through. Tessa came running out just before he could shut it. She jumped straight into the pool, splashing both of them. It was almost like she knew what they were planning to do today.
Jake laughed, but Tom was a little pissed. "Fuck Tess," he complained, "you got me wet."
Jake kept laughing. "Isn't that the point of swimming?"
Tom walked to the pool, ignoring his comment. He sat down on the patio, putting his feet into the water. Tessa swam over to him, her fur completely wet. He pulled out his phone and snapped a picture of her.
Jake did a cannonball into the water, jumping off from the diving board. He swam back up to the top, pushing his wet hair out of his face. "Aren't you going to come in?"
"It's too cold."
"That's why you have to just jump in. Easier that way." He swam over to him and Tessa, resting his head on his thighs.
"Just give me a second."
Jake sighed. "Okay." A grin grew across his face. "Or..." he grabbed Tom's waist, yanking him into the pool. His phone skidded across the patio, as his body was consumed by the pool.
"I could kill you for that." He laughed, holding his nose. Water had gone up into it, making his eyes water.
"Well it was either that or having to wait an hour for you to finally get in."
