Aryan stepped into the room, expecting music and disco lights, but there was nothing but sadness in the air. Furrowing his brows, he made his way toward the balcony. Hailey had called him an hour ago. He was with the boys and wasn't supposed to meet the girls, but Hailey mentioned something serious had happened, so he had to rush.

When Vrishali has mood swings or goes through a phase, she usually plays loud party music and disco lights in her room, but today, her room is silent, which is suspicious. On the way, he picks up the unopened Coke. Opening the balcony door, he saw Hailey looking up at him.

He raised his brow, and she pointed her gaze to Vrishali, sitting adjacent to her. Aryan stepped onto the balcony, sat beside Vrishali, and waited for them to speak, but neither spoke up.

"Okay, what's up with these weird, depressing vibes? Did someone die? Did someone's dog die? Did someone's cat die? Did someone's hair burn? Did someone's Netflix subscription end? Did someone's socials get hacked? Did—" Hailey clicked her tongue and slapped his hand. "Shut up."

"Then why are you two girls sad?" Aryan was genuinely confused. Hailey glanced at Vrishali, who was looking at the sky. Hailey sighed. "Padmanabh had called." Aryan waited for her to finish the sentence. "And?"

"And, he won't be there for the graduation day." Aryan's brows furrowed, and he looked between the girls. "He might be kidding or lying. Why wouldn't he be there?" Aryan chuckled. Vrishali brought her gaze to him. "My mother-in-law has a party meeting on the same day. It's important, and he needs to be there."

"Oh." Vrishali nodded. "I need to accept it. He can't make it for sure." Aryan wrapped his arm around Vrishali. "See, things might not go how we want all the time. He was there last month and stayed with you for a week, even though you couldn't give all of your time due to our exams. But, still, he was there just for those lunches and dinners. Graduation isn't a biggie when you return to India and live with him."

"It is a biggie." Aryan, throwing his arms up in submission, said, "Okay, it's a biggie, but let's accept it. You don't want him to get upset with you being upset. He would've been there if it were possible. The reason is justified. Let's not get upset and spoil our last days."

"He is right, our friends are waiting for us. We are not going to see them again for a while. I don't know when we will ever cross paths, but yeah. You shouldn't sulk, babe. We understand, but let's not spoil the whole mood."

"And anyway, he promised to be here to take you back to India, didn't he?" Aryan asked. Vrishali nodded. "Then it's sorted. He will miss only one event in your life, and you will miss the only event with everyone if you sulk. It's a big day for us all, and if you spoil your mood, it isn't going to help anyone. I know it's harsh, but it is what it is, honey."

"Aryan is right. . ." Hailey and Aryan placed their hands on Vrishali's hands. Vrishali thought about it. Vrishali sighed and looked at her best friend. "Yeah. . . You guys are right. I will send him pictures."
