He Saw Her

He could see her.

The way her long hair

curled around her shoulders.

The way she walked,

seeming to always know

exactly where she was going.

The way her slender fingers

held the pages of books.

He could see her.

The way her shoulders sagged,

ever so slightly.

The way her laugh

always seemed a little too forced.

The way her eyes would twinkle

just for a moment,

before becoming dull once again.

He now saw her.

Surrounded by dirt,

forever asleep.

He now saw her,

no longer weighted by her thoughts.

She seemed,

peaceful.
