You're a Teacher

Those scars that tattoo your skin
Made by you in the dead of night
Do not make you a strong person.
Trying to stop despite those reminders
Is what proves your strength.
Those A's or F's lined up vertically
On that piece of paper given from school
Does not label your intelligence.
Pushing yourself to learn all you can
Shows the true genius within you.
The far too many days spent crying
But managing to keep yourself alive
Should not make you a role-model.
It makes you a teacher.
Show those who can't truly see themselves
For the shining star they are,
Show them that society tells lies
And that loving themselves
Is more important than getting others to love them.
