I sat there crying like a pathetic child.
The word still tasted sour in my mouth. A horrid, bitter, terrible sourness. I hated it. I looked at my clock again. 4:15 A.M.
Damnit.
When would this night be over? I just wanted the night to be over. I looked into the mirror at the scars again. The memories flashed into my mind again. I calmed myself down, only a little, and put my shirt back on. I sighed, then stared into the mirror, my head full of thoughts. I began to think about Mia again. I still wondered who she was.
Flashback
Bebe sat next to me, examining my scars. We had just gotten out of our fight that night. I was still shaking and crying as my scars stung my skin. A burning sting. A cutting sting. Bebe got up and stood above me. She was quite taller than me, as she was two years older than me. She picked me up and carried me along the streets. She looked back at the rooftop we were fighting the villains on. When she saw I was in need, she called for Mama, who opened up a portal that we retreated to. Bebe had brought me away from the fight, telling Mama we'd be back to our home soon. The streets were wet and foggy. A good thing, since nothing could really see us. She walked along the streets, looking for a dollar store where we could get gauze for our injuries. Bebe turned the ally we used when we would look for stores many a time. That's when we met her.
A sharp throwing knife flew across the ally and stuck to the stone building Bebe was standing near. Bebe quickly put me down and got her sickles ready to fight.
A blonde haired girl, seemingly fifteen like Bebe, approached us. Her hair covered her eyes and she wore a black jacket with her hood up. Her sleeves were rolled up and she was holding three knives in one hand, and two in the other. "Who are you!?"Bebe asked. "M-Mia..." She said, her voice raspy and dehydrated. Bebe relaxed and asked, "Are you alright? Do you need help?" Mia looked down at her legs. They were covered in scratches, as if she were attacked by a wild animal. "Yea, yea. Whatever." She grumbled. Bebe smiled, and snapped her fingers, bringing us to our home.
End of Flashback
That's how we found her. I'm usually somewhat trusting, but the trust issues I had been able to suppress for a while seemed to creep up to my brain. I held my knees closed to my chest, and rocked myself back and forth. The motions always seemed to calm me down for as long as I could remember. I suddenly heard scratches at my bedroom door. I rubbed my eyes, causing them to sting. I got up and opened my door. My pet, Bread Loaf, bound into my room. The large St. Bernard stood in front of me, her tail wagging. She was panting, her tongue lolling out of her mouth. I sighed, feeling a soft smiled creep onto my face. I knelt down to pet her, rubbing her long soft fur.
She licked my face and my wolf ears perked up happily. She ran over to my bed and laid down next to it, laying her head in her crossed paws. I walked over to my bed and covered myself in my blankets.
It felt safe with her while I was covered in my sheets.
I decided to put in my earbuds and listen to music. I started with the song that I had left off from the last time I listened.
It seemed to suit my situation. So I sang along.
"It's raining.
It's pouring.
My eyes?
Oh, there stormy.
And I don't wanna leave this bed....
It's raining.
It's pouring.
It's four in the morning.
And I don't wanna cry,
but I need you here,
cause I'm
a
mess...."
I didn't sleep all night.
