Silent [5]

Rick Grimes POV

Beth excused herself from the group and Daryl followed soon after.

We all were silent went she came.

Daryl showed up with her in his arms and we all thought he was insane.

But then we saw her breathing.

Everyone crowed around her, watching. We were astonished.

She spoke in a whispery voice.

"Water."

The group immediately split up. Some went for water, others for medicine, and some just stayed there and watched.

Maggie dashed over and gave her the gallon of rain water we had collected over months.

Beth grabbed the jug, and during each sip she took we saw a small amount of color return to her face.

We sat for a couple of hours in silence.

We could hear walkers all around us, but no one tried to kill them.

Soon Beth and Daryl returned. Beth looked much more lively and Daryl looked less shocked.

We all sat around the small fire we made for a couple more minutes until people started to go the tents to sleep.

I finally spoke.

"Beth, do you know what happened?"

"I don't remember much." She spoke with the slight country accent she still had. "I remember we were at the hospital, and then I showed up here."

"What...what did happen?"

"Some one shot you at the hospital and we thought you were dead, Daryl found you still alive though, thankfully."

"Oh.." Her voice trailed off.

That's not exactly what happened, but I thought I would leave out the part that we buried her.

Soon Beth and Daryl left too, along with everyone else. It was just me and Judith. I rocked her and soon I found my eyes growing tired. I put out the fire and headed to the tent were Carol and Carl were.

I sat down beside Carl and laid Judith between us.

I laid there for a couple of minutes thinking about how crazy this day had been.

It still felt so surreal.

Eventually I allowed the sleepiness take over and I drifted asleep.
